BMW previews the 2019 BMW M8 Competition Coupe (F91) and Convertible (F92)

The M8 Competition is going to be the highest performance BMW sold and it is the first time BMW ever officially built an M8 model. It is a bit of a milestone in that respect although who wouldn't like to see BMW M put some effort into a lightweight sports car?

What you get here is a heavy all wheel drive twin turbo V8 dragster. Audi has one, Mercedes has one, and now BMW has one. It can still corner and offers a ton of grip but that classic M personality of power on oversteer and 50/50 balance is not here.

It looks fast and it looks great inside and out.

Expect to see these in the 9's fairly quickly.

So the benefit is slightly better handling at the expense of rear passenger comfort?

The F90 M5 isn't lighter but I think it's right on the cusp.

Regardless, F90 tuning will carry right over.
