Porsche 992 Carrera 4S vs. BMW G15 M850i xDrive vs. Nissan GT-R Nismo vs. Audi R8 V10 Plus drag and roll races

This network of automotive performance forums is not a fan of Carwow. However, they keep getting important new cars to test so we are at their mercy for performance comparisons no matter how poorly they do them.

Let's skip the usual complaints about their procedures and get to the cars. This is an interesting race because it includes the BMW G15 M850i xDrive which has question marks surrounding its performance.

The new Porsche 992 Carrera 4S is also included. Porsche bumped the performance up quite a bit with some significant changes despite the minor increase in the horsepower rating. We would not be surprised if the 992 C4S performs close to a 991.1 Turbo.

The Nissan GT-R and Audi R8 V10 are well known with the Audi being the only naturally aspirated contestant. It also has the largest and highest revving motor by far.

So, every car here is all wheel drive and every vehicle is dual clutch except for the BMW. Every vehicle is turbocharged except for the Audi.

How does it go down? The Audi gets the best start in the drag race and although the Porsche manages to open a small lead down low the R8 just pulls past up top. It wins.

The GT-R and 992 are very, very close.

    1/4 mile Times:

    R8: 10.7
    GT-R: 11.0
    911: 11.1
    850: 11.6

The roll race actually has the gearboxes in manual, wow, they learned something. Apparently they did not learn gearing though because they are all in 3rd gear at 50. They should be in second. This favors the cars with greater torque down low.

The GT-R wins but it shouldn't. The R8 with a higher rpm start would likely win the roll race.

So, there you have it, another flawed Carwow comparison.

The $175K GTR Nismo can barely beat a C4S in the 1/4 mile. I thought it would do much better.

It means 10's for the GTS.

The 992 Turbo S has a shot at high 9's stock.

its one data point if you can even call it that. They don't have anything but the final 1/4 mile time.

From the video of the drag race, the GTR left last/ had the worst reaction time of all.

The GTR is also the oldest platform and it's got the least number of gears with its 6-speed DCT vs. 7 speed DSG R8, 8 speed PDK 992, 8 speed Auto 850i

Can't wait to see what the R36 brings to the table!

Nismo should have lost to the V10 from a roll but won, weird. Porsche ups the ante with the new 911s

Not weird, they started in 3rd. Turbo had the torque advantage.

    These guys are morons.

The only time they are in the right gear is by accident Click here to enlarge
