    B58 picking up over 100 whp with tune and downpipe - PTF BM3 OTS Stage 2 F20 M140i

    The B58 is going to be the next big thing in BMW tuning especially and oddly enough Toyota tuning as well. The majority will just get a tune on the factory turbo but that is plenty to make the B58 potent.

    Just look at this Stage 2 PTF Bootmod3 OTS (off the shelf) tune. Yes, a skilled tuner will be able to extract more but for an OTS tune on car with a catless downpipe the results are great:

    422 wheel horsepower on pump gas with 454 lb-ft of torque at the wheels.

    The B58 stock turbo torque curve stock and tuned is so much better than the N55 it makes you wonder what BMW was thinking with the N55 to begin with.

    Expect B58 tuning to explode in 2019.

    Best looking curve of a modern 3.0 engine. That turbo is perfectly sized.

    While many do not like the F3x series, driving a 340i/440i with the ZF 8HP is a little bit of a revelation in the upper RPM range. Not that far off a N54B30T0

    Man I might have to get back into a BMW (or Supra).

    A closed deck block, cam driven HPFP, and properly sized stock turbo this thing seems like the sweet spot of cheap modding fun.

    BMW went with a far bigger and higher flowing turbo on the B58. Almost PS2 like as 500whp can be made on the stock turbo.

    Anyway, our Supra is order, so should be a fun summer.

    So many Bimmerphiles hated the F3x so much they missed out driving the 340i and 440i.

    Nice little engine that isn't gasping at the top end and very efficient when paired with ZF 8HP. Closer to the N54B30T0 than any other non S I6 engines.

    I did drive a friend's F30 340i and it is fast but not that nice to drive compared to an E90. Feels big and steering is crap and cant get it to turn in for $#@! with stock suspension.

    The B58 looks promising! What does a standard S55 do on that dyno?

    @Peter @ Pure/PTF guessing a stock S55 does about ~415 on your dyno?
