I don't think this will hurt and would be appreciated. Let's see if there is demand.

I can reach out to the PCB manufacturer that makes the boards for our products at my company. It should be relatively cheap. Its a simple layout and doesn't need multiple layers. There is another thread where a member found a black coil and was trying to see if they fit better than the red ones. Ill look into it.
There are lots of companies that will do small runs of PCBs online, I think there is a huge demand for them in the DIY crowd where nobody really wants to spend $300 on a cable. I think this can be done for less than $75 with just a PCB, some components, and a little soldering, including the cost of the coil connectors.

Not to mention bimmerlife is constantly out of stock. I've been waiting for them to come back in stock for a while now and every time I check they are out.

I am in the process of finalizing my driver for the R8 coils. It will be using only top notch components all mounted on a custom pcb. The problem is that it will most likely not be ready for testing before maybe another 2 months.

I work in electrical engineering, final product will not be just tested to see if it works, it will be validated with a scope and compared to results obtained in simulation. It has a whole bunch of protections/dummy proof/reverse polarity in place.

I am not sure yet how this solution would be released, I know that there will be demand.

If anyone is interested, I have a BL R8 coil kit I can part with. Less than 1k miles on them.

I think R8-GND2 is actually GND and
R8-GND should also go to R8-Signal

I think xm-n54's hand drawn diagram basically matches this, so if we've both drawn the same thing frmo our interpretation of all of this, then maybe this circuit is correct! I'll try and make it and see what happens

Soooo, back when PR came out with their coils you had to remove the pins from the stock connector. I threw mine away thinking I wouldn’t need them. Well I need them. Anyone know where I can get them?

You buy pins, and housings, and wire.

Here's the PN for the 1.5mm female pins the OEM coil uses.

I was really into this, until my tuner said i don't need it. Personally I would just make sure your gaps are spot on, you use a dab of grease, and use the s55 Delphi coils.

I would definitely be interested in one of these harnesses if they get made. I'd happy be a tester for you as well.

Well, it will definitely takes longer, I have other major issues that I am chasing with the car that got me distracted from this design. But some problems I am chasing could really well be ignition related so for now, I am building a prototype version of my driver for the coils, it should be ready next week.

Final driver with a pcb and harness will be done later after.

Just a side note for people wanting to make their own harness, it is not only a passive circuit, it requires components to do the level switching and a bunch of other stuff to protect the circuitry from blowing randomly thus killing one or more channel of the drivers. Trying to use the transistor and voltage regulator setup posted earlier in this thread is just calling for disaster, not worth the risk IMO.

Ok great let us know what you come up with. I have all my components sitting in boxes waiting for this to evolve.
