With differing levels of quality right? The lower levels have more dead transistors or something like that?
I remember back when they would sell single, dual, quad core chipsets but they all had 4 cores and some were just turned off because of either demand or possibly quality differences.

Thats kind of the idea, but while being slower, the 470s are more power efficient.
Might not be a bad idea for mining.

If I could actually buy some RX cards right now, I would build some rigs. After seeing this thread, I did some quick research and setup a spare pc with two RX480 4gb cards I had. Hashrate just under 50 mh/s.

Funny to see a crap RX 480 gpu selling for $400+. The entire world has run AMD dry of RX gpu's.

Anyone mining zcash? Nvidia cards work well for that.

To be honest I am new to this. Just saw a lot people on cryptocurrency forums mining zcash. Zcash is like bitcoin, but stands out over bitcoin and ethereum because it offers privacy. Sender, recipient, and amount stay private. Just saw some people speaking highly of it.

My advice right now is to buy BYTECOIN - You can pick up 100,000 of it for 250 bucks or so.. then sit on it for a few years. It's expected to get to 2 dollars a coin in the next 4-5 years. It's a long term investment... but one I made a few months ago. I was able to get 100,000 for 55 dollars back then so it's moving quick.

Mining or buying depends on the price of the kWh where you live.

Seems like if somebody found a source of free electricity mining would make a lot of sense.

    Like the Chinese with hydroelectric?

I've just come across this thread. Crypto currencies are going to get more and more popular in the coming years. The WannaCry attacks will be a major reason for the growing demand of crypto currencies. That and the purchase of various things on the dark web, to circumvent money laundering, to move money around the globe annonymously and to realise proceeds of crime.

The problem is that there are many competing currencies and you'll want to be in the right one. You need to consider how you safely store your currency. How secure are the exchanges you use.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._Gox

Can you afford to take a hit if there's a massive sell off (the uninformed are always hit hardest) and just how quickly can your chosen currency do transactions. BitCoin has been really struggling to keep up. A vendor wont let you buy something and then have you wait around for 4 hours for it to go through. There are some people who mined bit coin back when it was really low. 5 cents in 2010 IIRC. Then forgot about it and lost access to their bitcoin wallets that can't be cracked. Some people stored their wallets on usbs and formatted them for other things. Also if they passed away and didn't tell their families or friends then the wallet can be lost forever.

Ripple looks another interesting currency. Alot of East European countries are now using blockchain technology for all kinds of things.

It was just picked up by Coinbase a couple months ago. But it hasn't really seen much movement. It's not a bad idea to invest and hope if that's what you want to do.

So unless I'm misunderstanding this, it looks like the process through Poloniex is to first purchase/deposit USDT which can be used to purchase Bitcoins, and then the Bitcoins can be used to purchase Bytecoins. What I can't figure out is how the heck to add money to my account/purchase USDT??

Or is it better to purchase Bitcoins from another exchange and then transfer them to my Poloniex account?

Nothing. Every currency has a different use. All depends on what that use is and how valuable people find it.

Damn dude with 1000 Eth, what do you think about the recent volatility?

Did you buy any more on the dip? Sell any at the peak (almost $400 at one point).

You could have bought yourself a Ferrari if you had sold

I didn't sell at 400, and I have bought more in the dip. My sell price is 1000. It's going to hit it. I'm aiming to be a "millionaire" I guess. I just want to see a 7 figure pay day. Which isn't even enough for me to retire on. Half will go away in savings or other investments, the rest will be spent on a house, car, bike, boat.. whatever I want to buy. $#@! a Ferrari, maintenance cost alone would break me. lol

Man a million dollars would be so awesome. I would invest most of it in something safe with moderate returns and try not to touch it for as long as possible.

So what site do you use for your wallet? And what exchange do you use? I still haven't bought any yet but need to just do it.
