Hard to say. It's throwing a trans fault and major throttle closure at shift in lower gears. We have talked to chris at SSP, terry Christiansen and right now it's a process of elimination. Starting with the cheapest things first, battery, then fluids, if not it could be a clutch pack issue.

We have to go through the steps to find out. I just put the project aside for a few weeks because I have a lot of other cars to wrap up and needed some cash. Got tired of fighting with it for 2 months.

Sounds like it is not quite plug and play but I hope you figure it out.

Quick update for anyone interested. Everything is stabilized in the car/trans. We are running 32psi in the turbo setup and with quite a bit of timing and itís running flawless. The issue was related to low fluids. Added 1.25qt and hasnít had a hiccup since. There must have been some air in one of the lines or something that had to work itself out.

yupp it’s all there. The biggest pain in the butt was the 10 pin connector. Literally the cheapest part on there. I think they bought a
similar factory 14 pin connector and then chopped it to fit. I brought a couple variants of that 10 pin connector and neither was super friendly when mating up to the car. That’s a part your shop will probably struggle with a bit.

I'm looking at doing this conversion soon but wondered if anyone has tried using an M4 DCT gearbox? Or can think why it might not be suitable?

It seems like it would fit and although the ratios are different, that would mean you could use a E92 M3 3.15 LSD with it. I'm on Syvecs, so coding etc... isn't an issue.

The M4 gearboxes are actually easier to find and cheaper over here (UK) than 135i/335i DCT versions, which is why, by the way.

Ratios are different but apart from that should be a better box. Syvecs takes the hassle out of it too. Love to see some pics.

The only issue I can see is that there are pt can buses for redundancy on the m4 dct. If syvecs can talk to "pt-can 2" or the transmission can work without it then you should be fine.

I personally would try it and then contact syvecs to see if they can add support. If they can it would be huge.

I have a question in mind. Would it be easier to swap an N55 engine on 2011+ 135i e82 with N54? Because 2011 models usually come with DCT.

If you're on syvecs it's a no brainer.

Not sure why it would be easier. The 335is N54's came with DCT too. The Z4's did too.
