Someone in Germany swapped an 8.3 liter Viper V10 into a BMW E86 Z4 coupe

The idea of a German Viper has always intrigued BimmerBoost. The S85 V10 from the E60 M5 would make the Z4 exactly that. Well, someone in Germany took the idea a bit more literally and swapped in a third generation Dodge Viper 8.3 liter V10 motor into a Z4 Coupe.

How freaking cool is this? It's also for sale for roughly 49,000 Euros so any German readers might want to jump on it.

The transmission is a T-56 manual and the claimed weight distribution with the V10 is 51% front to 49% back. Curb weight is stated to be 3082 meaning the V10 isn't much of a compromise. If anything, this Z4 now has the big balls that BMW never would have given it.

It would be great to get a video of the beast in action but much respect to the work involved and this engine swap.

    Motor: Dodge Viper SRT-10
    Hubraum: 8,3 Liter
    Leistung: ca. 550 PS
    Drehmoment: ca. 750 Nm (90% davon ab 1.500 U/Min.)
    Getriebe: Tremec T-56 6-Gang
    Leergewicht (trocken): 1398 kg
Gewichtsverteilung: 51% vorne 49% hinten (mit Beifahrer fast genau 50%)
Bremsen: Brembo 6 Kolben vom Audi R8

If it was me I'd want an S85 V10 swap but I certainly respect this.

Guy probably asked him to give him a wiper motor and the mechanic misheard him.

The engine is actually just 4" longer than the S54. And much smaller on height and width of a BMW V engine because after all it's a small block OHV.

These are S85 vs Viper engine dimensions:

The S85 is 29.5" long, 27" wide and 28" tall.
The Viper is 34" long, 22" wide and 26" tall.

    Good info.

So the main thing to worry about is the length.

Also not surprising because the Z4 has a longer wheelbase that the viper by several inches. It is a bigger car than the viper even if it doesn't look like it.

I want to see that thing run. Looks like a bit of a drift set-up maybe? (long shifter/e-brake?)
