      You already know the N54 turbo upgrade market is crowded but in 2017 bottom mount options with Borg Warner EFR turbochargers became more prevalent. VL Performance is entering this niche and gauging market response.


      So what is special about their approach? They are packaging their manifold with the largest Borg Warner EFR turbocharger (9174) available.

      It has an external wastegate and although we only have one teaser pic to go by it certainly does look to be well packaged and designed with the room to work with.

      What does it cost? When will it hit the market? Will it hit the market? All valid questions we will hopefully get answers to.

        It would seem this would be the main competition for AC-F's bottom mount, right?

        Im running the same physical size turbo. Terry is running the exact one posted above, 9174 EFR supercore.

        What type of power from this thing?

        For the life of me, I still can't figure out how does the turbine housing get feed from the manifold. And honestly, I am not a fan of having the exhaust wrap around the turbo and the downpipe like that.

        I'm also curious to see how they have the turbine housing clocked, and how the exhaust is routed for the part we can't see.

        I'd like to know what this puts out for power. Looks like fun.

        around 900hp or so. they arent that big comparing to what ppl are trying to run these days, "only" a 67mm compressor, rated for 95lb/min of flow.

        Looks like the manifold would have to do a 180* to get gas flow into the turbine housing. Not ideal in the least.

        Looks to be the case, not sure why don't they just clock the turbo the other way around. their runner length is longer than some of the top mount kit...

        Anyone else think it is weird we have only one pic to go by and nothing else? No expected pricing, no additional photos, no discussion of engineering decisions, etc.

        I mean they browse this thread so why not answer the questions or provide additional info? Was this revealed too early?

        Probably because of the initial investment that’s involved with making a cast or cnc log manifold. Tubular runners are a lot easier to make in small batches if you are talented.

        I've been waiting to see a cast log mani for over 6 years now. IIRC, I saw a prototype for one last year. I don't think it ever came to fruition. If a $750 T4 cast log mani came out, there would be a BUNCH more single turbo cars than there are now.
