    • Stock BMW F90 M5 vs. BMW F10 M5 highway runs

This is great to see as it highlights the differences between the F90 and F10 M5 generations. Now, they are both very similar cars with S63TU 4.4 liter twin turbo V8's and comparable curb weights although the F90 M5 has the latest and greatest iteration of the S63 motor.

The F10 M5 is said to be decatted in this video and maybe more is going on. However, on paper you would think the F10 M5 would have the roll race advantage. The DCT + RWD is a better roll racing recipe than dig racing recipe.

Obviously the F90 M5 has the advantage due to traction from a stop. The automatic despite being a very quick shifting gearbox can not physically match the DCT. Additionally, all wheel drive has higher drivetrain losses.

It plays out as one would expect it to play out with the newer S63TU2 offering quicker response and spool but the top end of the F10 taking over. It is somewhat suspect the F10 M5 is so much stronger up top though.

The video does go to show the F10 M5 is a huge value in performance compared to the F90 M5.

I wonder if we'll see similar results with the current M3 versus the next model.

The S58 is so much stronger than the S55 I don't think so.
