    • This is what it looks like when you don't change your engine oil for 27,000 miles - BMW N47 diesel

Wow. Credit to BMW for making the N47 diesel motor stout enough to be able to last for almost 30,000 miles without an oil change. What the owner of this motor was thinking is a valid question but just look at the absolute mess created.

Brintech Customs in Australia is tasked with repairing this engine. There is going to be a bit of degreasing involved as you can see and some new engine parts.

No side bets on if it was a woman that owned the engine in question please.

This happens more often than you want to believe. Most people are $#@!ing retarded when it comes to cars.

I have degreed engineering coworkers who don't know $#@! about cars and just imagine your average idiot...

Just amazingly bad. My now independent tech told me when BMW had their 15K mile OCI in force, the top end of engines would look like this at about 80K miles.

Oil changes are so cheap and easy to do. Improves gas mileage having fresh oil and keeps things lasting longer. I can never understand why anyone with any automotive knowledge would wait even over 5k. Personally i do 3k or less im not going bankrupt over it.

Eh depending how much you drive 3k could be way more hassle than its worth.
Unless you are heavily heavily modified running E85 that is way overkill.
5k is more than fine with modern synthetics.

I do run e85 and do a good amount of hard driving. There really is no hassle if im lazy i go to the jiffy lube type of place with my own stuff and pay 30bucks to have em do it.
