    • 2020 BMW F87 M2 CS with 450 horsepower S55 laps the Hockenheim GP circuit quicker than GR Supra, 718 Boxster T, and Audi TT-RS

An impressive result here from the Germans at Sport Auto who tested the new 2020 BMW M2 CS model on the Hockenheim GP circuit. It is important to note of course the car is wearing Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires in 245/35 R19 front and 265/35 R19 sizes and has more power than your standard M2 Competition and carries less weight.

A good tire but certainly not as aggressive of a compound as the newer Cup 2R tires you see Porsches wearing.

The timed lap result is great:

      Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO: 01.48,00 min
      Lamborghini Huracan Evo: 01.49,00 min
      Porsche 911 Carrera S (992): 01.53,30 min
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera: 01.54,60 min
      Audi R8 V10 Spyder Performance: 01.55,20 min
      BMW M2 CS: 01:55,80 min
      Lamborghini Urus: 01.57,10 min
      Porsche 718 Boxster T (PDK) 01.58,80 min
      Audi TTRS Coupe: 01.58,80 min
      Toyota GR Supra: 01.58,80 min

It is three full seconds quicker than the Toyota GR Supra which is massive. You can say the same for the Audi TT-RS and Porsche 718 Boxster T as well.

It is 6/10's off the Audi R8 V10 Spyder Performance model which is nothing to scoff at.

      Impressive:

That's a really impressive lap. I am shocked that the Boxster T is actually so slow though, the same lap time as a Supra for $25k more?

        It has the 2.0.

Still though...that 2.0 makes ~300 HP and is no slouch. I'm surprised the differences aren't made up in the corners. I guess the track has a lot of straights though which favour high horsepower cars.

The GP track is the larger course so power is a big factor. How else does a Urus beat a Boxster?

I envy anyone buying one of these new...not only because it will almost certainly be one of the best driver's cars of all time, but also because the valuation curve will almost certainly be as favorable as the 1M.
