    • B58 vs. B58 drag and roll race - MKV Toyota Supra vs. BMW G29 Z4 M40i

You already know both of these cars are basically the same thing. The main difference is the Z4 is a soft top convertible while the new Supra is a coupe based on the Z4. Sure, there may be some tuning differences here and there but basically it's the same thing.

What would be nice is to see a dyno overlay between the two and a curb weight measurement. As this is Carwow we will get no meaningful data to really show where these cars differ.

How does the drag race go? The Supra gets a better launch and pulls away. Decisively at that. The Supra finishes a half second quicker (no trap speeds given) with a 12.0 elapsed quarter mile time.

They do the drag race over again and while the Z4 starts better this time it still loses.

The roll race is a mess again with them waiting for the gearboxes to kick down rather than just put the car in the correct gear for 50 miles per hour. Someone needs to slap some sense into these people. The Supra pulls away but if they did a 60-130 GPS measurement the kickdown element would be avoided entirely.

So, the Supra is quicker despite the terrible testing from Carwow once again.

These are most likely European emission compliant cars with OPF.

The Z4 MDrive40i has the B58B30O1 While the Supra Mk.V utilizes the B58B30C. They differ in internal content and probably engine, transmission and E-LSD mapping.

Car Wow are clowns so let us see what happens with US versions at the same strip together.

While i can understand everyone's criticism of CarWow's lack of data; they ARE the ones putting themselves out there, taking their time and effort to create and produce high quality original content, something I assume you haven't been able to find elsewhere hence why you keep posting about them.

Instead of $#@!ting on the idea of working with them (previous post), why not try to improve their content? Great CarWow content means great content for you...

Lol dude I told them how they could improve their content. They didn't listen.

Calling them 'high quality' just because they get cars to test is pretty dumb too.

high quality due to the video and audio quality. Not sure why that's dumb, you've posted videos of cars racing that are so dark you can barely see anything Click here to enlarge

plus getting cars to test, testing them, recording them and editing the video is not some easy thing either. If it were so dumb and easy then why aren't more people doing it with all the timing & data equipment you desire?

CarWow is tied into serving as a conduit to its British car dealers. It is more of an exhibition than a rigorous testing regimen. No one would cite their exhibitions as definitive.

Great way of explaining what CarWow is and why it produces videos the way it does.

In a race on the highway it will usually be at night. The video quality is to be expected. It isn't a piece on a rented strip with all the time in the world and ability to record using high quality equipment and multiple angles available to you. As well as professional post-production editing.

Hence why the video is posted. That doesn't mean they can't improve though.

Looks like their videos are meant for a different audience than what you, I , or anyone on this forum would be interested in. Case closed.
