    • Actual N54 HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) upgrade coming from M18Performance? 700+ hp capable dual hybrid pump and 600+ hp capable single 6 piston pump

Just the other day an HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) upgrade option was posted but like all upgrades available it involves overspinning the factory design. M18Performance may have the first true HPFP pump upgrade but boy has BimmerBoost said that plenty of times about other vendors.

Bimmerboost simply directly reached out to M18Performance for clarification:

It looks like you have two pumps in one housing? Am I understanding the design correctly?

Are there any more details as to the cost, expected fueling improvement, release date, design, etc.?
They were candid in their response:

So two pump upgrade options are in the works. One that is a dual setup you can see teased in pictures and the other is a six piston single pump that is capable of 600 horsepower or so on E85.

Will their design work? What will it cost? When can we expect it?

We will all just have to wait and see.

A big undertaking. Very interesting considering the SpoolPerformance leak generating chatter and speculation.
It would need to outperform my VTT Dual Shotgun and PI system so I can maintain DI only.

Also kind of a big jump for someone who was just showing off a valve cover I would think...

So they took a Porsche pump, and put it on a BMW, thats not upgrading the factory hpfp. If anyone is wondering I have a contact at BBI. They said those Porsche pumps are $2700 each. Looks like what they are using I could be wrong. But let's keep it real. This platform get cheaper by the day. You can run close to 800WHP om a double barrel. And it's $1500 with a controller. If you start asking Porsche money for these upgrades, they aren't going to sell many... 5 years proven, records broken, and re broken with the shotgun at a reasonable price. Wake me up when someone comes up with something better. Remember when I released the shotgun 5 years ago, and everyone said it wouldn't work. Guess I was ahead of the curve wasn't I...

I think it is only fair to say, yes, you were.

        Things keep progressing though.

I don't know these guys but let's see what (if anything) they bring to the table.

I have to agree with Tony on this one, the platform has reached the point where selling anything like this will be next to impossible but I'm glad the platform is still being developed

There was an ST e90 335i for sale here for 6k, clean title LOL. These cars are worthless now unfortunately.

Has anyone heard of the 2.5tfsi by any chance?

I do not know, but I think the N54 not having valvetronic is an advantage if you want to boost it up. A lot is known to build these to closed deck specifications and how to fuel them. Being less expensive than newer versions does not hurt either.

And tuned or not, an I6 is so inherently right in smoothness and response.

100% agree but it makes it more fun wiping the smiles of those who drive 100k plus cars that think they are so fast.

I'm actually doing a real budget build on one of my 335's to see how cheap I can build it only using second hand parts where they can be used.

The best part is its real quick, didn't break the bank and relatively cheap to maintain with all the wrecked cars being around these days available for spare parts.

We even have spare engines and boxes we picked up for next to nothing just in case we break one.

And if you want to play with the cams.

        Sometimes simpler is better.

Why is it the S54 makes more power than the N54 again? but but but muh direct injection!

Well come on now... Let's be realistic about that comparison. Your double barrel kit with 2 new 2 HPFPs (because why would you put an old one on?), controller, and everything comes to over 3100$. Even with just one HPFP it's still 2300$. Not hating or anything just pointing that out because I do agree that you push the platform, one way or another.

With two new hpfp's is 2.5k as they are 500 each from fcp euro.

From schmiedmann the pumps are even cheaper at 370 so around 2.3k

We still don't know the pricing on this, maybe just the pump for now if its the pump that Tony assumes it is.

We will just to sit back and wait till it comes out if it does, who knows what happens.
