    • Can Evolve Automotive fix the horrible BMW F80 M3 & F82 M3 M4 exhaust note? Evolve lightweight Titanium S55 exhaust

The S55 motor is arguably the worst sounding BMW I6 of all time and certainly the worst of the modern turbo era. It sounds like garbage. Which is unfortunate because M engine exhaust notes historically are one of the best parts of the M experience.

In comes Evolve Automotive to address the exhaust tone with their F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4 lightweight titanium exhaust system.

First, the exhaust saves 40 pounds off the car. That amount of weight saved from an exhaust alone is huge. Performance junkies will be interested just for the lighter weight let alone the exhaust note and power gains.

Does the exhaust remedy the factory tone? Yes. It is not the meanest sounding M motor of all time but it certainly is one of the best sounding S55's. There is a slight rasp but with a much cleaner and higher pitch.

Honestly, you can not go back to stock tone after hearing this. It's simply way, way better.

Where is the dyno graph though Evolve? And pricing?

Damn, I didn't realize the stock exhaust weighed 84lbs! I'm guessing this is like a $5000 exhaust system.

This is going to be an expensive exhaust for sure but IMO the best. Titanium material, sound improvement, + weight savings = worth every penny.

Unfortunately, you're probably right. The pricing of catbacks and intakes have gotten to be insane in recent years.

Our price was pretty decent, and I think we had more weight loss than they did with our aluminum catback Click here to enlarge

What ever happened to your exhaust? Why'd you guys stop selling it? I mean it sounded really good.

A whole lot better, still not much of a singer.

Sounds the same as every other S55 out there just slightly tweaked. They range from livable like this version to ear-shattering terrible like people with mid-pipe delete, and stock mufflers with nothing added in between... Whatever is going on in this head, the sound is pretty unfixable...

The funny thing is reducing that mass under the axle will probably very slightly raise its roll axis. Are we thinking $5K-$6K here?

It cannot tell if he is saying "D cat" or "decal." Neither makes sense to me.

I lived in Edinburgh for four years, but the Scottish brogue is quite a different animal from this cockney accent.

In any case, these items are for people who have way too much cash coming out of their Kazoo when one measures increase in performance for cost.

        Who makes a cheaper titanium F80 / F82 exhaust?

If you guys want a cheaper option you know where to go. Premium material has premium cost. This isn't designed to be cheap. It's designed to be the best.

Similar to Akrapovic titanium exhaust still sounds raspy. Big difference in sound will make a single midpipe

Weight savings are definitely cool. The sound just doesn’t do it for me though, still too raspy as others have said. ZCP burbles are annoying but it is what it is. I prefer the sound of my AA midpipe/Remus axleback combo, still not perfect but improved vs stock.
