    • JB4 tuned BMW F90 M5 Competition vs. Cobb tuned Porsche 991.1 Turbo 1/4 mile drag race

Two twin turbocharged all wheel drive German vehicles here but that is where the similarities end. The F90 M5 is 700 pounds heavier than the 991.1 Turbo and features a larger 4.4 liter V8 compared to the 911's 3.8 liter twin turbo flat-6.

The new M5 as you know has a ZF 8-speed automatic while the 991 Turbo models feature PDK or a dual clutch transmission.

In the first run the M5 does not engage launch control. It still does very well with a higher trap than the 991.1 Turbo:

A better launch and the M5 should win.

The M5 tries launch control on the second run and it makes an appreciable difference. The M5 picks up a couple miles per hour of trap speed but also improves its elapsed time running a 10.798 @ 130.57 which is quicker and faster than the 911 Turbo.

Not bad for Florida 2200+ DA weather, either.

Have to keep reminding myself that's a 4 door family sedan, impressive machine.

Love this video, really shows how fast that F90 is even with about 600lb weight diff!
I can't wait until SS/NFZ when Terry and I will finally line up.
        Both JB4 powered cars. F90 VS 991.1 Turbo S...

How does a tuned turbo only trap 127?

Very impressed by the m5. Love M5's.

The 991.1 Turbo is not as fast as people think it is. Stock cars go ~123 all the time. This is realistic especially for Florida.

Ahh makes sense. I was also thinking of Turbo S.

Is this the same track that the dragtimes dude goes to? I like his videos but it always seems kind of strange how his stock cars (especially the huracan) run some of the fastest stock times on the planet. He's also in Florida.
