Note drop in geometric CR to 9.3. Single cooling system now instead of stratified on B58. Anyone know in which vehicle the B58B30TU engine (upon which the S58B30T0 is based) is installed?

Got to love claims. Over 10 years now in this platform and have seen at least 10 turbo vendors appear with tons of those claims, most every one tends to fade out once customers start to put together the pieces within some few'ish number of years. Most of these guys just read what others are doing, attempt or claim to do the same thing (or usually "do it better" somehow with less experience/equipment/knowledge); but ultimately still do a half ass job to cut costs as cheaper price tags and big claims is what's most important to garner consumer attention to make the quick sales. While the years will weed them out, a new sprout always seems to pop up right in their place. With that here is your new blossom, do with it as you will. Rob

Just putting the cats back on isn't solving the issue here, you need to find the real issue first...

Well nowadays the internet is flushed with "ebay" and "chinese" turbos, a potential customer doesn't know the difference anymore... Also some big turbo builder don't give away the full specs of components so it's very hard to fully compare full units... On their site (dynamicautowerx) they at least say they are fully balanced, but hey also ebay/china turbos claim they are balanced. KEY FEATURES TD04L 9 Blade Ultra Flow Inconel Turbine Wheel (30% More Blade Surface Area Than The 11 & 12 Blade Wheel) 17.5T 6x6 Billet Compressor Wheel With Extended Tip Technology Oem Wastegate Actuators with Updated Thicker Rod, Billet End Link & Upgraded Billet Wastegate Pivot Arm Assembly Upgraded Dual Oil Port Thrust Assembly Machined From Copper Bar Upgraded Thrust Collar & Spacer (14mm vs 10mm) Component Balanced, Dynamic Balanced Than Vsr Balanced Using a State Of The Art Balancing Machine, Avg 0.5mg Or Less Upgraded Staggered Turbine Rings Upgraded 2" Compressor Cover Inlets (2" Silicone Inlets Required) No Cores Needed Tune Required! 3 Year Limited Warranty For me it's just finding the difference to spend 1k on full chinese or around 2k for let's say half chinese a difficult one to judge if you don't know the FULL turbo characteristics and components...

Faulty PCV's can generate a lot of stupid issues (including giant clouds of smoke). I however also had oil consumption (1L/2000km) and i thought this was relative to the smoking. When i went RB external, the smoking stopped, however the oil consumption didn't. I still have a light smoke on some occasions, but this is only when the car is cold and i have no kitty's. At this point most people hope it's still something in the PCV (or something else), but it's pretty obvious my turbo's needed replacing. 80k miles on them and running pretty hard on them, it's a good opportunity for me to upgrade to PS2's ;) Good luck

A very interesting comparison here by Magnuson of three Eaton TVS based superchargers on the C6 Corvette Z06 LT4 motor. The motor comes from the factory with a small TVS1740 blower and you get to see on 91 octane pump fuel just how much more power the bigger blowers provide. Bigger is not always better but in this case with the TVS blowers on the LT4 it happens to be and shows GM made a mistake with the tiny TVS1740. If you look down low in the rev range the superchargers offer similar torque but the difference in flow capability really shows as the motor is revved out and the bigger blowers can supply more air to the motor: The TVS2650 is just the way to go for the LT4 and now you know why the LT5 comes from the factory with it. The TVS2650 with a retune and higher boost thanks to methanol injection managed to easily eclipse 800 horsepower to the wheels still on the same 91 octane pump fuel: Magnuson feels the TVS2650 is good for roughly 1200 rear wheel horsepower which one could argue is even mathematically conservative on the LT4 platform. Magnuson goes into further details in the video below:

Motorsports separate the men from the boys and competing on the professional level certainly requires the highest skill level. Congratulations are due to JDC-Miller Motorsports and their Unitronic / Out There Brands sponsored RS3 for taking home the TCR class win at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park 120. Have a Gen 5 direct injected small block V8 from General Motors? Need direct injection fuel injectors capable of higher flow? Well, Xtreme-DI just announced they have injectors for the LT1, LT4, LT5, L86, and L83 V8's that are capable of 45% more flow than stock. Announcement: This is great for those upgrading their direct injection fuel system and fuel pumps to be capable of handling far more fuel than factory injectors can flow. XDI again delivers an aftermarket solution for those with modern direct fuel injection system.

You might be saying, didn't the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro lap the Nurburgring in 7:04.6? Yes, it did, in the hands of Mercedes-AMG test drivers. Suffice it to say, Mercedes-AMG has greater resources at its disposal at the Nurburgring than Sport Auto. That is what makes this independent test being only two seconds off the absolute best the factory could do with the car so amazing. It is not easy to get a time like this. The lap test video below is well worth watching not only for the engine sound but just seeing the incredible speed and driving involved. Laptime: 7.06,60 min. | Tyre: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP |
