    I don't think the truck appeals to the mass market, in the presentation he talked about trucks from the big brands looking the same over the decades. While that is true, it is true for a reason; that's what people who buy trucks want! Ford, GM, Dodge, etc. have all done market research to know that's the style people want. Therefore, while the specs are impressive including the rugged body material, I wish Tesla stayed closer to mainstream on the design side. Tesla would have stolen the market with that price, those performance specs and a close to mainstream (Rivian) design. too bad....

    Sad to see you leave this platform. Some might gawk at the price, but I think it's well worth it. Someone will appreciate all of the time, effort and money you've put into this car to make it what it is today. One of the best examples available. I hope it goes to a good home, good luck with the sale!

    FYI here is the solid update on #1 above from mechanic working the case below: "I opened up the oil pan on the motor that was replaced and found a backed out and broken oil pump bolt. Also timing chain guide plastic piece was broken and sitting in the oil pan. I am surprised the motor ran and still boosted up until the front turbo went out."

    The guy is a scam artist/bullshit artist. His success stems from flipping business and then pouring that billions of seed money into what have pretty much amounted to a bunch of semi-successful ventures. His 20billion net worth is just the cumulative equity of these ventures. If his businesses were liquidated right here right now he would probably be in massive debt. Not sure why anyone thinks of this guy as a "genius." Just a lot of hype around the specific sectors he decided to venture into... Probably a public image campaign he funded himself... Tesla's are just now becoming half-way decent vehicles and then he released this trash prototype. Probably merely to capture headlines before news got out that his latest space-x rocket launch exploded... Someone let Elon know that High-school cardboard box cars don't actually make for good production vehicles.

    Yeah that is all that I really verified. It's a cheap mod for those with heads sitting out on benches. Looks like the rollers can be had for $50-100 on Ebay if someone can validate my numbers. Should produce the same small lift on an N54 as well. N53 cam on top of that would be a hair more lift if the person who posted the cam lift as .232" provided an accurate measurement. Need validate that as well as nothing else that person posted turned out to be accurate. It's a mild/small gain but cheap small gains are better than nothing. Probably most significant for NA platform that doesn't have the turbo dynamics to contend with.

    I know you posted the datazap link, but it is impossible to look at with my phone. Stock turbo boost tapered from 18psi to 16.5psi. Did the GC turbo do the same or did it hold higher boost that the tune was requesting (but stock turbo can't hit).

    I just can’t. I wanted to like this thing and the specs are impressive, but holy hell, it is a face only a mother (Elon) could love. If it looked more like the Rivian and had these specs and pricing, I’d be super excited. But dang. And did you watch the reveal? It was painful. Like Elon was drunk (or high?). He’s a terrible public speaker. Plus, the whole armored window demo was a disaster. Eek. Someone is getting fired. -Rich

    Some more progress. Cooling system more or less done. Ended up moving radiator in front of the front clip and we modified a radiator so itīs got 2 seperate parts, upper/lower as the oem S85 system has. That way we can use the oem hoses/clips on the engine side. Then put a big electric fan behind the rad: Then fitting the intakes, using the Eventuri ones: So now the fab work is pretty much done itīs time to strip the car and blast the shell & fix some rust.

    So if what we are hoping is true about the different exhaust rocker ratios of the N52 and N55 engine, Here is my calculations- N52 exhaust 9.7mm lift with 1.66:1 rocker ratio, =5.84337mm cam lift = 0.2301" exhaust cam lift This is right in line with what most everyone has measured, including myself. Now if the N55 engine really has exhaust rocker ratio of 1.72:1, and we put these on the N52 engine, we get 5.84377mm(0.2301") x 1.72 = 10.050mm exhaust valve lift, +0.35mm and probably +1-2* duration. Just ordered 2x N55 roller rockers 11337631121 from ECS. 2 because 'free shipping' and I am a sucker for free shipping. Now the +0.35mm additional exhaust valve lift in not as much as my 'reground N52 exhaust camshaft' could make, but changing 6 exhaust rockers is much cheaper and easier than changing the exhaust cam. I think that this is well worth the investigation, time and effort. Interesting 2 possibilities- both add +0.35mm exhaust valve lift, 9.7mm -> 10.050mm N52 exhaust cam into a N55 engine N55 exhaust rockers into a N52 engine

    My thoughts exactly. Interesting is the use of N55 intermediate rockers on a N52. Might have to order up some N55 intermediate rockers and mount them on my N52 on the engine stand and measure the lift.

    It is important to look at independent Ferrari numbers because Ferrari does whatever they want to do with magazines. The problem is you rarely see Ferraris let alone bolt on examples drag racing. This owner hit the strip in their 488 GTB which is on the factory tune but features a catless exhaust system. The result is a very nice 10.490 @ 133.18 on street tires: The car is begging for a tune. Additionally, the 488 GTB will become somewhat of a bargain next year on the secondary market as Ferrari owners rush to get the new F8 Tributo. It may become a sneaky Ferrari performance tuning value which is a rarity.
