All MT are welded, AT trans are not welded. They will fit in your 335 Dark Phantom. The Welded diffs and the non welded diffs are the same in price. The difference comes down to installation and the Bolt Kits which is less for the AT and more for the MT. Prices given reflect the MT. So when we put this together you will just have to specify MT or AT 335 or 135 and we can get you the specific unit for your application.

There would be no core charges because this would be a Group Buy for just the LSD and The Bolt Shim Kit. From there you would be on your own to have it installed at the location of your choice. Or you could do it yourself if you have the qualifications and feel comfortable. The other side of it is we can set it up to buy the unit complete, there is like an 800.00 dollar core charge you send in your diff and they refund the core. Lets make some decisions and get this thing going.

This is not 100% accurate they started welding diffs on the MT march 2007 so early MTs might be bolted, I got this feedback from Quife UK directly, I have a 03-2007 built MT 335i and I need to get the serial off my diff to find out if it is welded or not, the VIN wasnt enough Click here to enlarge

Im trying to get this started as soon as possible. Not many people have shown to much interest. We have about three right now that have said they would be in. Once we got all ten people you would see it about a week from that point. I will start a list to get an idea. Also anyone in question about there diff can PM me their VIN and I will get the information if it is welded or not. The more we get the better to guys!

    Current List:

    1. DC47A MT Welded / Quaife
    2. SR20seb Welded / Quaife
    3. VegasJD ? / Quaife

I just need to ask, are you involved with Quaife in any way?

That is a bit of a problem since you are monetarily involved. It isn't a big deal, I will do what is best for the enthusiasts here.

I see, well, if quaife it is I can create a new thread for the group buy and we can go from there.

I'd like to be removed off this list. I've found other means of obtaining the LSD. Thanks.

As far as I know only the latest models (2010, 2011) have welded difs.
But to be sure normally the supplier can check your VIN number in the database...
All 135i manuals are welded, autos are bolted, 335i varies by production date.

Don't do a group buy for the manual diff....everyone should run the diff from the AT as it has a lower gear ratio and will provide better acceleration.

I would be interested in joining the GB...if my freaking CPA would get me my da** tax return any time soon.

This is a good deal though either way...here is the lowest retail i have found (pulled from the mod list thread)

Limited Slip Differential (LSDs often require professional installation and, on many current BMWs, modification to the stock ring gear in order to use. These additional cost are not included, research your model.)
AR Design – differential tool (via HP Autowerks $49-$89)
Diffsonline – custom differentials incl. OS Giken/Quaife/Wavetrac/custom clutch based; custom ratios and ring & pinion polishing available (via BimmerWorld $1994.99-$6294.99)
    Dinan – manual lsd ($2599)
OS Giken - $2074.95 (via Turner MS)
Quiafe - $1305 (via HP Autowerks)
    Wavetrac - $1144 (via modbargains)

    From Evolution Racewerks

Automatics built from 9/2007 changed to a slightly different differential. However, all automatics after 9/2007 are all bolted and thus do not require a installation kit.
All 135i manual transmissions are welded.
All 135i automatic transmission are bolted
Don't know if any of this applies to N55 powered cars

Haha. Ok so maybe there is one reason...but you could always shift up. Besides doesn't the auto get better mileage anyway? Most do.
