New Blow Off Valves/Diverter Valves From AWE Tuning

AWE Tuning has released new BOV/DV's for the N54. AWE Tuning is big in the VW/Audi market (as I have learned from AudiBoost) and have done a couple things to set their product apart. This one product can be used as either BOV or DV at the users discretion, no separate parts needed. They include filters for the BOV configuration so you don't get any blow by in your engine bay. They are also diaphragm valve based, where as far as I know, everything but stock is piston based. As per Helix
... maintenance free and cannot get stuck open or closed as piston based valves are prone to do. Another advantage is that a diaphragm valve will typically open at a lower vacuum pressure where a piston valve setup could surge slightly under the same conditions. There are no disadvantages to a proper diaphragm design valve.
They use the stock mounting connections

Helix also claims to be the sole distributer for these, so until they get with the program and come over here >link<

What's the main advantage of these over the stock configuration?
There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works

+1 My question exactly. How would someone benefit from these? Would it be better to go with a BOV or the DVs?

It's the just the normal reasons to upgrade- improved boost holding ability (some people have problems with the stockers at high, 16+, boost levels) and possibly get a little more boost responsiveness. There's also the sound of the BOV that a lot of people like.

In the BOV vs DV's you are going to have all kinds of opinions. There was a time when the tuners pushed you towards DV's but that isn't the case anymore. My opinion is avoid the Forge option as they are not a set it and forget it setup and if you don't mind the BOV sound there are quite a few solid choices that perform well on every other type of car and engine imaginable.

With that said, that seems to be the great thing about these. You buy them once and figure out which you and your car prefer. Seems win win if they function well. I don't see any reason they wouldn't as AWE seems huge in the VW/Audi market.

Was wondering why there were all the Helix watermarks on the photos. So they have an exclusive deal to distribute these for a month... got it.

These looks nice if you want that BOV sound or upgraded DV's and a easy way to do it, as just removing the stock diverter valves are alot easier than replacing the whole chargepipe with a BOV, also cheaper.

Also doesnt helix basically sell a BOV kit that goes into the Stock DV locations aswell, seems like a generally the same idea.

Denying you a warranty claim for a diverter valve probably wouldn't be beyond them but tough to prove. You could just make friends with your service advisor.
