$#@! the track. I try to do all of my racing in residential areas. I hear that bonus points are given for school zones and driving when drunk. The 335i is fast, but damn I wish I had the sound of the M3. I wonder what was done to the 335 as well, but it didn't seem like the guy in the m3 was giving it all it had.

Ya, guy in the M3 shifted about as well as he could.

That was a good run, that is what a basically stock manual M3 and JB4 should look like.

    93 octane I take it?

I think we all agree where they were racing was stupid, just want to make it clear we don't condone it and always encourage you to take it to the track or if you won't listen to that bear minimum don't race in residential during the middle of the day.

Great sounds from the M3, but those guys are dumbasses from driving like that in public roads. Just way too unsafe and fast for those residential roads. At least do it on the freeway. Nice JB4 though, I wonder what mods he has.

Unbelievable. They were driving the residential neighborhood like it was a track .. stop signs? What stop signs? ..

If somebody was speeding like that down my street, I have no idea what I'd do, but it would not be nice, and probably involve baseball bats.

Nobody here is an angel, but keep the crazy stuff to empty roads with no traffic and no kids.

i did a burn out at 6am no little jonnies running there, a burn out does not exceed speeds of 20mph which is below the 25mph limit and way less than the guys in the video.
I never speed on residential streets.

+10 pts for hitting pedestrians - those roads look too crowded, and too narrow. Anything can occur in conditions like that.

This video occurred by me, I know the owner of the M3......its an E93 M3 with 6MT and straight piped cat-back and magnaflow tips...
he did real well against the 335i with a JB4....just goes to show a E92 DCT will pull on a 335i with just a tune...
Heres a video of his car on the left, with mine in the middle, and another M3 on the right:

Hard to make tuned 335 owners understand that.

we all know it depends on boost, what boost 335i was pushing. yes i understand what happened here, but a 100% fact is that it can go either way depending on what boost 335 decides to run.

we all know throwing a tune on and running 12-13 psi is not gonna be an M killer, but same tune at 15-16 and the tide turns.. its situation dependent

Look, limit it to pump gas and you have your answer. Plus, we are talking about stock DCT's here anyway. What happens on pump gas vs. a bolt on DCT M3?

For the 335 to be effective it needs higher octane and meth. Or at least meth + pump to run higher boost .

Yes, situation dependent but that is like saying what if the M3 is running boost? Well, in that situation we know.

Look, it isn't a big deal but I just find it odd the M3 is discounted while the 335 is somehow seen as stronger even though it is incorrect. Breaking this line of thinking has proven difficult because these tunes have gone to peoples heads. Remember that old vid I made with the RDsport 335? Guy was convinced he would destroy an M3.

yes, we know the outcome of boosted M's, set that aside

i havent been at the lower level of N54 tuning in a while, so i may have to look into it, but i recall N54's running pretty strong with tune only. i could be wrong. and i am talking about pumpgas n54's, capped at say 15 or 16 psi iw ould give the advantage to N54..definatly agaisnt stock or intake/exhaust m3's.. i think the line blurs when talking tune only n54 vs FBO/tuned m3's.

im not saying its definat either way, but i believe that the above mentioned opponents, the matches FAVOR the N54, but as we see in any equally powered competition, it does come down to driver and conditions

Sticky I'll have my custom OE tune within the next two weeks, other than that I'm already FBO (drop in intake, pulleys, fully catless exhaust, and ram air scoops)....so when I get it done ill make sure to run a FBO 335 with meth...
....I ran a modded M6 the other day at captree, and besides getting pulled over doing 120 (he was real cool, let me off with a ticket for no front plate and tints), I pulled about a car and he reeled me in by 135ish and we let off when we were about even...
A FBO M3 with a proper tune will be a close match to a FBO 335 with meth...Ill have it on video within the next few weeks

For the record, I always knew the DCT was amazingly fast - but I never realized how fast until I was door to door with the V10 - for while my car continuously pulled uninterrupted (with the exeption of slight wheelspin going into 3rd), the V10 always had a slight pause between shifts with the SMG tranny (which is still fast for an automatic).....

DCT is a lifesaver, it is probably the single biggest advantage of the M3 in my eyes....allowing you to hang with higher HP cars...
