Its seems like a pretty cool idea. I bet the rear end is pretty light.

M3 pick-up truck being tested? Has BMW lost their minds? What is going on?

That is likely the first reaction from most people when they see these photos. Relax, BMW has not gone that far off the deep end (yet). Although the idea of an M pick-up truck is kind of fun actually that is not what is happening here. Manufacturers do rigidity testing in a variety of ways and what you see here is a chassis flex text with the car being basically cut from the door pillar. Do you see a bed? Do you see a tailgate? Nope, because it isn't a BMW truck. Calm down internet.

They are testing a new chassis. They used body to keep people off track. Which is really smart. Actually it is pretty funny that people take it literally. Could be the E89 M Roadster with the 4.0 V8 and cool sound track that they said they would not build? I wish but probably not. The dream is still alive. Click here to enlarge

Guys, I think it's none of the above. From what I read, it's simply BMW's in-house parts hauler for one of their bike divisions--looks as if they are just messing around with it on the ring. I doubt it's being "tested" or being used to test a new vehicle, etc.
