    Worth the switch?

I live in Germany (deployed now though) and can buy a 335d through the military sales program.
    Alpine White/Saddle Brown
    M-Sport
    Premium
    Ipod
    Folding Rear Seats

    ~$46k

I've got a 335i right now and would trade in. Are you guys really getting the ridiculous mileage reported out of these things? Would it be worth the trade?

I've calculated a savings based on my ~20 mpg combined and the reported fuel economy.gov ~34 mpg for the d on 15000mi/year of around $1100 per year. Is this what you d owners are seeing?

So, is it worth the switch?

Thanks for any help you give.

    haha, thanks

I guess I have another question. Is the $900 tax credit every year or only the year you purchase it?

I'm thinking I'm going to get it.

Yeah, that would have been great.

With the JBD and all that, economy power. I will probably be in a diesel by June.

If your focus is fuel economy, you really can't beat the the 335d, certainly not with anything else in the BMW lineup.

The diesel is pretty fun to drive too...

Currently on a road trip in a X5D. Only getting ~23mpg. Paid almost $80 to fill up with diesel last night. Driving with cruise control on, no spirited driving.

Just drove through Texas, where diesel is almost 40 cents more than prem gas.

Losing faith in this damn diesel.

Car is fine, plenty of power with jbd. Took out jbd for road trip.

It is the price of diesel, cancels out any advantage from mpg.

wait , you are telling me diesel is more expensive than gas in U.S? Premium gas here is $1 per litre , for diesel it's $1 per 7 litre

Agreed. Looks like the math isn't going to work out for the switch though. Savings in Europe aren't as great and in the US its even worse.

Only solution is to add POWERRRRRRRR to the 335i. I guess the AR oil cooler and DPs are going in after all.

    Tell them we sent you.

The owner loves me, he showers discounts on people who mention how much they love BimmerBoost. It's really touching.

Wish I'd known that before I bought it when they first offered it during the GB on e90post. The downpipes are raceland, so I'm back and forth on installing them or not. even if they rust out, for $150......

Yeah, I know. Us po' folk though, especially after the $1k oil cooler kit.

I bought my car before I realized that the non-sports don't come with an oil cooler.

I've had plans for this car. I've also derailed the thread.

FYI, only recently have the diesel prices started offsetting. 107 fill-ups, my average price per gallon is 3.20.

    http://www.fuelly.com/driver/ronin/335d

Do NOT take current prices as an indicator....and this is a SoCal guy filling up, so imagine where diesel would be cheaper....

Don't worry about it, happens pretty frequently here.

Ronin would be the guy to talk to about Diesels...

So, if I understand you correctly, you have not saved money on gas until recently with the increase in gas prices?
