2500 pounds, 2 engines, and almost 1000 horsepower

I'll let the vid do the talking, this is something different:

    I think I just...all of it...

On a side note, I wonder how fast the car would go with proper aerodynamics?

2 motors is point less. I dont see the point in the two motors. And i don't see how the motor in front is helping move the rear driveshaft at all

pretty sick, he mentioned the coupler between the two motors, so its kind of like a huge super charger pushing the first motor faster lol, in a sense i guess, but its radical, and i like the history, good editing on the video side and i like the owner, he seems like a cool guy. the creativity of the car is what draws my attention.

Although this is a fantastic creation and few craftsman can pull it off right, this has been done many years ago in the 60s as the guy said.

Back in the day, they used to put one engine in front of the other sort of like this configuration. It just so happened that at some almost arbitrary power level, the engine in the rear would experience serious ignition and detonation issues. No one knew why.

They would take apart the rearmost engine and the pistons were beat to heal, bearings all $#@!ed up and they used to call this phenomena "black death". No one could really figure out the true cause of black death, even when they swapped the front motor which ran fine into the rear position it would experience black death.

It turns out that because both engines were coupled together via a double chain wrapped around both ends of each crank, turned both crankshafts into one solid unit. Because the combustion forces on the pistons was happening in an order such that the front pistons were on the power stroke and the rears were not, for this very instant the crank would twist more than a few degrees which caused the pistons in the rear to see the ignition advance at different times than the front ones in the front engine.

So no matter where they put the engines, the rear engine, because it was coupled to the transmission (the load bearing side) would always experience black death. Until of course, they made stiffer and stronger cranks.

Inline engines always have torsionally stiffer cranks because they experience larger deflection angles during piston firing sequences, this is due to their LENGTH and nothing else. Inline engines are longer. Two V8s back to back is essentially two inline 8s side by side, and V8 crankshafts were not designed to handle the loads of an inline 8.

A little history/physics lesson for you guys.

    ^nice post.

and as Sticky said it different! Commend this guy on originality! He built this thing from nothing. And whats the point of 2 engines, you got 2 $#@!ing engines!!! Thats the $#@!ing point! Its fun, its a beast, and even if its monster to drive, I bet its a dream experience and an amazingly fun toy as he said!
