    Well done to George Smooth!

1st 335 to run 11's in the Southern Hemisphere, I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong please. Awesome buddy, all the hard work is paying off now.

    Hi Sticky,

I am waiting for the official figures to be released as it was a Championship event. The time was 11.93@118.5.
It was quite a outing. I went out with pump+meth at 19psi and could not get traction at all using 275/40/17 DR's. The main culprit was the gearchange would spin the wheels as I am running different gearbox software which bangs in the gears and the gearchange revs drop to peak torque breaking traction again. When I got into the elimination phases as it was bracket racing I lowered the boost to 17psi and ran the time with wheelspin in second. The time was run with a 1.9sec 60ft so there is still a lot in the car. I was also running a full interior and my car has the fully adjustable electric seats which are worth a lot of weight.
It was more a test session to see what can be expected from the car and for our traction conditions the mid range is far to strong so a special tune will have to be created for drag racing to lower the midrange power a bit in the first two gears.

Thanks man. Its tough up here at this altitude to run times so this is a big thing for us hence M&M jumping the gun. Its a .44sec of my previous best with bolt ons so its quite a gain in itself. I reckon with some clever tuning work in day event where the track has more grip it will max out at around 11.5sec. Unfortunatly the coastal events are held at places with even worse traction so we will have to wait for the guys States side to see what the RB's can do.
I am going to install the V5 for the next event in February and see how well the traction control works with a 19psi boost setting.

Congrats! I believe the spin at gear change is not the worst problem. Your 60ft 1.9s could be as low as 1.6s with a good traction. 0.3 decrease in 60ft can transform into 0.6s in ET. Anr this involves no gear change.

On this run I used a flash tune boosting 17.2psi. Its good for around 425whp on pump and meth with no boost taper.
The 19psi map overwhelmed the car traction wise in all three gears.

In Feb I will use 19psi and hope the traction control handles the slippage to a certain extent. I know the traction will be better that day with the track bite heated up by the sun and more rubber on the track so lets see.

We will never see a 1.6s 60ft locally. Thats what the big drag cars get so we fighting a big battle here. If anything I can cut a 1.8max. We in similar conditions here to the guys that are running in Europe on airstrips, its as good as it gets. I can always opt to fit 305's in the back but that would mean I would have to flair the rear arches similar to the E90 V8 M3 which I want to avoid because I am probably selling my car in September.

Sure George, the track prep is the limiting factor.

That is the reason for spinning at the shifts as well although traction at the lauch is more important than in the shifts.

Decreasing power will not help much. Increasing traction would help a lot. Too bad that there is no chance for the latter for you locally.

Congrats George! For traction, are you able to modulate the throttle? e.g. go half throttle in first gear?

I am playing with the throttle in first and second hence the bad exits.

I presume you are manual? If you were auto you could start in 2nd gear. Click here to enlarge

I could be speaking out of turn but pretty sure he has a AT with a M3 rear 3.15 ratio. So ultra long gears, not bad for an Manual car to avoid gear changes but may not be ideal for an Auto that can take care of the shifts pretty quick at the track. Maybe too long for a AT 2nd launch like most of the 3.46 guys can get away with.

Rob is right. I am running a 3.15 diff from a M3 DCT. Second is out of a question and we also don't get the spool up you coastal guys get.

Hmm have you tried a 2nd gear launch? I've run 11s that way pretty easily and with fewer shifts is great for MPH! Click here to enlarge I'm sure a 3.15 will change things a little but with plenty of torque on map could work well for you.

I have tried and 60ft drop to 2.2 or so. Run looks good with less drama. I am not a perfect driver in my opinion but I know the shifts is the biggest problem due to the gearbox software. The G's dip like its a SMG.
