HPF won't tune it unless it is an HPF setup.

The Z4 M has a different ECU from the E46 M3 from what I understand complicating things significantly. You may need a standalone if you are very serious about this in which case I would contact Apex Speed Tech.

There isn't anyone running a turbo on the factory DME from what I understand so not too many experienced turbo tuners.

Thanks, i will not use stock ecu (or didnot find anyone to do) although i have seen a video of gintani stock ecu tuned turbo m3... Any info on this one?

OPTION 1: SWAP E46 M3 ECU & BUY HPF KIT (Dont know if my engine harness can be fitted to e46 m3 ecu) i might need e46 m3 engine harness...

OPTION 2: STANDALONE EMS: vi-pec says there is plug and play but i guess it needs alot of wiring .. so it is not plug & play i guess looking for info.. Neel help Click here to enlarge

Maybe go big and buy pectel ??

OPTION 3: TUNE STOCK ECU (GINTANI ??)

    OPTION 4 : Piggyback system

Yes, they were not able to get the part throttle tuning down. No one has been able to, so they resolved it with a stand alone in conjunction.

It is plug and play I believe. Neel@Apex carries this and is a vendor here, he is the guy to ask.

He also carries pectel and yes, that would be going big.

    Not an option.

HPF won't just sell you the AEM setup unfortunately so I'm not sure what piggyback setup is an option. Gintani managed to get an AEM setup somehow that worked, I don't know how they pulled that off.

what are your goals? What about rwhp goals? Budget? It is hard to give advise when there are so many gaping holes in the specs! I have a Pectel unit that was purchased and installed by Neel at Apex i have gone through many options this by far is and was the best! Not to mention Neel is one hell of a tuner and a guy!

He Tuned/Tunes the Underground Racing TT lambos.... Has a huge following with the Supra crowd also... He's just tuned a ton of cars over the years and knows what he is doing..

For AEM Tuners in the Portland/Vancouver area i would put my money on John Reed and Lucas English@ English Racing....

I bow my head in respect.

However, has he even touched an E46 M3?

You are referring to what type of vehicles right now? Because the question concerns the S54.

I disagree, if it was someone would have mastered part throttle S54 turbo tuning by now.

Different ECU's and different setups require different approaches. It isn't all the same thing.

i would venture out and say Reed or Lucas could do it... The range of cars those 2 guys have tuned over the years is huge...They would figure it out...

It cost money... if shop is already set with a cretin type or car, why would they go out a spend more $$ to try and learn another? I know that doesn't sound great but that how ive seen it go...

if someone was to bring them a custom setup, and said hey i need this tuned, can you do it? then that would be a different situation...

it cost a ton of money.... the HPF project was NOT cheap when it started up...
