    BMW 6 series vs CL550?

Anyone else thinks that the 6series is comparable to the CL550? The new 6 is just huge they might as well call it a 7 series coupe.

Nah, the CL is a 4700+ pound boat.

they should scrap the 6 series and make a 5 series coupe to go directly against the A5 and E Coupe. We could have a M5 coupe with the TT V8!!!

I said scrap the 6series meaning DONT MAKE IT therefore replacing it with a 5 series coupe and making a M variant of it. M5 coupe. The 6 series is ridiculous. They should keep the 6 series grand coupe though to have a direct competitor to the A7 and CSL

Oh, but that won't happen and doesn't make sense. The 6 is historically what it is supposed to be.

They are planning on bringing in the A7 and CLS competitor based on the gran coupe concept.

Well it really doesn't matter how BMW labels their cars. They all look the same now and all have generic interiors.

    I am losing hope quickly.

Not going to happen, completely redundant and just goes against how the model lineup is set. I'm not even sure why you are suggesting it with a 6 series already exiting?

BMW 6 Series’s Successor To Be Named 5-Series Coupe

BMW could make a significant renaming in its range with the launch of a succesor for six series. Model would be a coupe derivate and convertible of the current 5 Series.
Although it has already become an iconic design for BMW, the 6 Series could change his first name with the launch of the new generation. Unofficial sources speak of a repositioning and rename as derivate of 5 Series. Expected to be named 5 Series coupe and convertible, the model will probably adopt the stylistic characteristics of the segment E sedan .
Even so, the name 6 Series wouldn’t be dropped , the name will serve to identify the four-door serial version of the concept Gran Coupe , Shooting Brake three-door variant, seen as a competitor for Gran Turismo segment.
Decision of renamed the 6 series, comes from the desire to align the supply of current 5 Series to the smaller brothers 1 Series and 3 Series, which also enjoys coupe and convertible version. Another reason for which BMW hopes the new derivatives is the intention to compete with the Mercedes E-Class coupe and convertible.

Moreover, the Bavarians will sell the two new models, using the success that currently enjoy the 5 Series, the coupe and convertible styling will be seriously inspired by the F10 sedan. In convertible model case, the difference will be made by the fabric material of the roof. The two variants of the 5 Series will debut on the European market just over two years, in 2012.

They say to be named then afterwards say could be. It's just a rumor, take it as such.

I still think it's stupid and we won't even know if they do this (which makes no sense) until after this generation is done. So, for now, the 6 series stays the way it is as it should be.

Why the hell should it be a 5 series coupe vs. a 6 series? I still do not understand it.

Have you read anything I have posted beyond the first sentence. The articles/rumors say they are going to stop making the 6 series in favor of a smaller lighter 5 series coupe with an M variant as well.

Yes, and I'm saying it does not make sense and is just a rumor. We have a 6 series right now and it will be here for a long while.
