Click here to enlargeClick here to enlargeI will will post a vid when i get my vid editor working. The car runs very strong, spinning at 50 or so mph in 6th and maybe some clutch slippage. According to my log i touched just over 4.5 psi with a 7.5 psi spring. Still has an incomplete soft tune.

Nice touch with the Orange on the covers.

Want to see a dyno of this thing.

i tapped into the dipstick tube. Bigger problem is heat control. Im in the middle of converting to a mechanical fan and custom shroud. The settup is quite different now

ok thanks, if you have a picture :-) is the heat issue engine coolant heat or heat from turbo downpipe to cylinder head? many gets ignition problem when downpipes are to close to ignition modules, are you running with ethanol? that cools down a lot

Coolant/fan setup issue. Coming from BimmerStock the car overheated really bad in traffic.

Would you be up for replicating this exhaust manifold?

yes, we will go for turbo, and we will use the origin header on left side and a home made on right side, and then place the turbo on right side, origin fan has to be replaced by a electrical one to fit pipes from intercooler, radiator are quite big on this one, i guess its same as one with automatic transmission, (we will make the exhaust X-over pipe behind engine)

I have a Summit 22.5 x 18.5 x 2 inch radiator and neither a 16" or dual staggered 10" fans would coool it. Previously i had a stock e28 535 radiator with a combination of 3 fans, one 16"+ dual staggered 10" fans would not cool it. Now im using the Summit radiator custom shroud and stock mechanical fan, hope it works. Just waiting on some new hoses to finish it up.

Great work lughed. You can see all the efforrt put into this build. One thing to consider with better thermal management. More heatwrap and use water wetter to break up the surface tension of the water in your coolant lines.

ok, thanks, our car is 540 , so there are more space, we will try to piping lower than you on Turbo side to avoid heat on ignition coils.

The car is back together and was taken out for a drive today. I still cannot come to a final conclusion for the electric vs mechanical fan debate because of two untested variables, which are 1, an electric fan, shroud combo and 2, my mechanical fan setup in 90* day heat. It was only in the 50's today but the coolant temps never went above 195 for the first time. Driving the car in this weather a year ago with the electric fan setup, the car had a different radiator so that would be another variable. I will not be able to come to the conclusion that the current mechanical fan setup works until summer comes back around but after idling for well over a hour, once the fan clutch engaged (between 200-210*) the temps decreased to 180* quite quickly where the clutch disengaged. It never did that before though during my drive i dont think the fan clutch ever had to engage.

As you can see from the pics above and the before pics, there are some pretty significate changes. I think what i actually like the most other than a working cooling setup is that i now have a shorter, straighter, more direct intake tube and have also gained extra clearance at the front of the engine Click here to enlarge

Feels great. It needs to be leaned out a bit.

    Spin in 6th?? Nice!

How much power do you think it puts out?

I have no idea. With everything done to the car it would almost be impossible to guess how much power it would take for the car to do that.

Hope you get it on a dyno at some point especially once you tweak the tune.

How can you stop wheel spin and yet keep hp? Power is nothing without traction.
