New 60-130 mph record breaking runs!!!

This M3 of mine continues to impress me. The S65 engine and DCT are just amazing! I think the DCT impresses me the most since it's been able to handle every bit of power that I throw at it without slipping.

The cold weather in the Southeast has enabled me to achieve some great 60-130 mph times this week. I'll start with the results of the ESS VT2-600 supercharger only run (no nitrous). 27F / full weight / 93 octane.

After that run I just had to try it with nitrous. So... I went back to the shop, warmed the nitrous bottle to 900psi, and installed the 100 shot nitrous/fuel jets. I was unable to engage the nitrous in 2nd gear because it would just blow the tires, so I waited until I shifted into 3rd gear (you can actually hear the switch in the below video). 33F / full weight / 93 octane.

I know when I first got the M3 there was a lot of DCT hate'n going on, but I believe most people have now seen the light when it comes to all out performance

When I ran the 7.3 it was 40F and I was running the RE-11s (spinning at the top of 2nd gear), so for these runs I had the DOT drag radials on the back which took care of the spinning at the top of second. So... with the cooler air and traction I was able to go much faster. What's funny is that I thought the DR would hold the nitrous hit in second gear around 45-50 mph, but it instantly blew the DRs which put a big smile on my face! That's when I decided to use the juice in 3rd gear which the DRs were able to hold.

    holy $#@! CONGRATS!!!!!

Question (not trying to stir $#@! up, this is just for my personal decision between the two kits), but what does the Gintani 2+ run 60-130 in? I know weather is a big factor, but is the ESS running a faster time?

Goddamn congrats again man thats insane!

I know the weather has been cold and that does make a difference, but these runs kind of throw the "ESS is the weaker kit argument" into the wind. A 6.87 sec verified run is pretty sick on a 600 kit... I'm impressed. IMG's car ran a 7.5 with a 6sp too... I would say you can't go wrong with either kit, the numbers say both are putting out respectable power.

How "slow" we need to run not to spin ordinary street tires? 9 sec?

With a DCT and going to WOT in 2nd gear at around 45-50 mph I think most high performance street tires will hold on in the 8s. The 285/35R19 Bridgestone RE-11s that I use have servered me well until I get into the mid to low 7s.

im not so sure about that, i mean, its probably about rright htough, i ""believe"
im in the lower 8's ( just got vbox) and i have no traction @40-45 mph in 2nd-3rd. so I think its about the upper sec range

Remember your in the S65 engine forum not the N54/55. You make more TQ and do so at a very low RPM. I also doubt you can fit 285, 295, 305 series tire on a normal 3 series without modifying the fenders.

gratz on the vbox, i should pick one of those up these days, seems like a good benchmark that you can use anywhere instead of having to go to a track. i would be hard pressed to believe you have no traction at 40. do you have an lsd? i can feel the car torque steer slightly, left and right, if i just punch it in 2nd at 40 with my quaife but in 3rd it has traction fine. then again, with an open diff, even a car with stock turbos loses it in 2nd.

i was tired, i meant to clarify in the upper 8's is probably around that benchmark, "I Think"
with either n54 or s65, definatly and FI s65 too.. just saying, your right about the tires, mine are currenty 275, and its tight

I have the wavetrac LSD, with the old boost logic i used to have Click here to enlarge, it wasnt much of a problem, just a little slippage. with this nice new stuff, its a lot of power to handle.. ill see if i can find some of the road logs i have and post them up in a different thread though

They both put up respectable power but it does not throw that argument into the wind at all. It just shows that 60-130 numbers are affected tremendously by traction and weather just like the drag strip. 60-130 is so new in comparison we do not have rules of thumb or density altitude calculators to use.
