Thumbs up HPF FMIC, BSH OCC and AR downpipes review

I recently purchased AR catless downpipes and an HPF FMIC along with the BSH OCC. The downpipes came in first so they were installed 2 weeks earlier than the FMIC. So this review really shows how much of a difference each of these have made for me. Thank you to Andrew@ardesign and Deigo@lutzperformance I highly recommend both of them.

    AR Catless Downpipes:

    Installation
The install was pretty straight forward, but that does not mean it was easy. I had someone to help me that is very good with cars, but I couldn't help him much due to having surgery two days before, so that didnt help with speeding up the process. The space to work with is very limited and if you are a big guy it can make it very difficult (unless you have a lift.) It took about 7-8 hours, being extremely careful and not using the best tools. If we had to do it all over we could probably cut that time in half. AR design did a great job with these and the fitment was perfect.

    Gains
The amount of power gained was incredible. The first time I drove after installation I couldn't believe the amount of power, I was instantly thrown back in my seat. 0-60 times were much quicker after these were installed. I didn't notice much of a difference at high speeds, but in lower gears it is very easy to spin the tires. I have a E90, so it isn't as loud as the E92 would be, but it is defiantly noticeable and sounds awesome. I would highly suggest these downpipes to anyone who wants to get more power out of their 335i.

    HPF FMIC:

    Installation (two weeks after dp's)
The installation of the intercooler was extremely easy. The factory IC couplers made it so easy just to slip right on. The real PTA came with trimming. I did not have the correct tools to trim away the bumper, I had a dremel but not the correct attachment. It ended up taking about 2 hours trim away all that plastic; I was surprised how much there was. The actual installation of the intercooler took about 20~ minutes to put it in and bolt everything up. HPF did an awesome job making this intercooler, you couldnt ask for better quality.

    Gains
After this was installed I was very eager to take it out. I wasnt expecting to notice any gains below 60mph, but was I wrong. It absolutely ripped to redline and believe it or not, I noticed a bigger gain with the FMIC than the Downpipes. I am extremely happy with the overall results and cant believe how much of a monster this car has come. Not to mention, the fmic looks awesome Click here to enlarge

    BSH OCC

    Installation
Very simple, just follow the DIY and you wont have a problem. It is a very good looking can, completely OEM. Anyone who is going to mod NEEDS THIS. I had so much oil in my OEM FMIC. This OCC will defiantly help, because you dont want oil in a brand new intercooler you just paid a good bit for.

feel free to ask questions if I missed anything. I will post sound clips soon.

Were you noticing the gains on the same map, or did you move up? And what map? Sounds like the HPF intercooler was keeping you from pulling ignition timing and/or closing throttle since you noticed the most gain with the intercooler.

How does the FMIC help ignition timing? I dont know a great deal about that. But to answer your question yes, on the same map. Map 5, and map 7 is crazy.

Your IATs stay down. The HPF most likely creates less pressure drop as well.

Ignition timing is pulled when knock happens. Knock happens when cylinder temperatures are too high for your current octane. Cylinder and intake temperatures are too high because of your raised boost pressure.

Post the log, they seem to like that.

Defiantly will! Also, I jut emailed Terry, I only plugged in 3 of the 4 dp fix wires (mis read the instructions) hopefully that is what is causing my rough idle!

I don't know if it could be causing the rough idle or not but you will find out soon enough when you plug that 4th wire in... let us know.
