I just read this thread over and I think my tone on the 1M and in general was a bit harsh. I guess it is hard for me to hide my disappointment in M but I do believe this will be a nice car, I'm just disappointed.

Has nothing to do with you N54 guys.

here's some feedback from hotrod after I asked him about his results:

    Hotrod:
"Have no idea why he would say such a thing. I used the same nozzle in my 60-130 run as Sacramento, etc. Just didn't have a full bottle at Sacramento, therefore my traps only read 132.7 mph. I don't care what size nozzle people think I used anyways. I already took pictures of the nozzles I had. Those are all I ever had to use, period. One nozzle says 24, the other 28. So does that mean a 28 shot, or .28 size? I have no idea. Had no experience with nitrous, and just used the kit I bought off of Brian135."

    Another member (CBR335):
"I can vouch for Warren on the nozzles as he sent me pics of them when I asked the question of nozzle size, etc. In addition, I can tell you from personal experience that his tune + intake sedan is a fast as most fully modded cars on the highway. I don't know how, but there are two of us on the forums that have racced him personally and then inspected his car for meth/nitrous, etc. His car was freakishly fast, period...on pump gas."

    Hotrod again:
"I couldn't get that link to work, but I don't really care about what people are saying who have never even looked at my car. I remember people saying my 60-130 times were impossible and faked. To each his own I guess. But I'm not really going to waste my time trying to prove otherwise.

Actually, everyone has their opinions/guesses/suspicions. I have no reason to lie about whats on my car. If it makes you feel better, fantasize about me using a 300hp wetshot. Whatever makes you feel better, go for it. If it came down to money and you wanted to put $1000 on the line to prove I was using any other jets than what is shown here, then go for it. Shiv was sure I was using nitrous when I beat him before. Trapping around 124mph. So I proved what happens when I do use nitrous. And all this imagining my trans blew up. If you read my build up journal, I made dozens of runs after removing the nitrous (you can see them on video) with flawless transmission operation. That car always ran great, and still runs great. Just because you go into a failsafe mode doesn't mean something is destroyed, lol. "

Whatever, to each his own...time will tell the story on the N54 potential and who was right/wrong...i'm done with this topic Click here to enlarge

I know someone who was there when he was doing his Vbox runs and he told him the size of the nozzle he was using, ok?

How is this vouching? I can send someone pics of nozzles too claiming a size that isn't proof of anything. Hell, I don't even have nitrous and I could do it. Freakishly fast? LOL, ok.

We are at where we are at with the platform and it simply isn't a ZR-1 killer or a supra for that matter. It is a nice little motor but nothing like an S54 or S65 when it comes to top performance. As I said, you overestimate it. A guy squeezing a ton of nitrous in his car, breaking it, and then quietly getting rid of it doesn't prove much of anything, some service advisor.

Given there's no proof on anything N54 engine related specifically, you're purely speculating and I choose to disagree UNTIL there's proof of "N54 engine" HP limits...you're talking everything from someone's ethics to auto-tranny issues...

we can go forever like this it seems and I'm just choosing to wait to see factual evidence of N54 engine limits and you're choosing to speculate...i say, great, to each his own...speculation isn't necessarily a wrong thing to do...just sometimes leads to premature false conclusions...

Exactly, using that thinking then the latest gen M3 could never be up there with the ZR-1 either.......

I don't believe anything Hotrod types.

    On 12/03/2010 he states this:
Still have the 08 Sedan 335i which I am transferring mods to.
As far as the coupe, that car ran perfectly post-nitrous. It was a great running car. Just got rid of it in anticipation of getting an 2010 N54. But when they were all sold out, I waited and watched the N55 tuning scene, but became intrigued with the diesel.
    on 12/14/2010 he states this:
If you read my build up journal, I made dozens of runs after removing the nitrous (you can see them on video) with flawless transmission operation. That car always ran great, and still runs great.

He is so full of BS it is hilarious. Doesn't he realize people read different forums. He no longer has the coupe he put nos in, but yet he likes to claim on occasion he still has it and it runs great.

Yep, if one car has mods it isn't disclosing it tends to be quite a difference, right?

What speculation? There currently is a limitation with fueling that is creating issues. Even once this is resolved, people are shooting for 600 whp. That is where the S65 is on stock internals. Warren has nothing to do with any of this.

I'm not speculating on anything, you are. That is why you are saying "wait and see" when I am going by the reality of the situation where we are at. It isn't rocket science, a more efficient motor with higher revs, a better torque curve, and more displacement is simply a better platform. Nothing can change this, it is the way it is.

Exactly, he doesn't even have the car and who knows what the real story is as the guy puts so much emphasis on how he potrays himself in his little internet life that he won't tell anyone the truth. That is why he won't admit to using larger jets or downplays the weight he would strip out of his car. He even goes out of his way to avoid showing that he is just a service advisor at Steven Thomas BMW, you can see right here under Warren Matsui: http://www.dock.net/new/webdevelopme.../service.shtml

Why do you think he always ran at Sacramento anyway? He never set any "record" times at Famoso. The guy perpetuated inflated times for people and then the N54 community even with upgraded turbos can't hit the times and people wonder why. Oh, I know, because his far was a "freak" right? BS, he was allowed to take risks others weren't pushing the car because he was a service advisor. That's all, he planned all along to dump the problems on BMW should they arise like his transmission issues. No surprise he disappeared and so did the car. It served a purpose, think about it.

I'm not going to delve deeper into this as I have no intention of hurting anyone but when I did bring this up a while back it was deleted on n54tech.

Honestly if I worked at a dealer I wouldn’t want you guys to know either or would be getting 100 pm’s/day from kids wanting the “hookup”.

Posting his employment info for all to see, pretty sad fellas.

It is public information that is already there as you can tell by the link. This is not some shocking revelation or posting the information, the information already exists. The point is he denies it showing that he is a liar and willing to bend the truth to serve his purpose. Other guys who work at dealers don't seem to have a problem saying so, does not create any "hookup" issues for them. This guying doesn't run the damn place, there is little he can do other than get an employee discount for himself.

What hookup can he give you? If you blow your motor he can get it through? That isn't even within his jurisdiction, he does basic stuff. What is sad is that he advocates running nitrous on leases and taking them to the strip when he should be held to a higher standard working for a dealership. I wonder how Steven Thomas BMW customers would feel if they knew they were buying abused lease returns or that their service advisors advocate modifying and drag racing cars? The reason he doesn't post it is for that reason, he doesn't want to get in trouble.

I say if you want to play, you better be able to pay and not be borrowing.

At first I wrote that I no longer trust this guy but then I deleted that post...Reason is we were discussing N54 high hp tuning potential and then it went off to discussing hotrod's ethics...he has his reasons for bending the truth around his employment and I don't think its fair to use that against his results...At this point I really don't know what to believe anymore in terms of his results but at the same time I don't want to say they're faked because of his work ethics...

The only thing I'd like to get out of this discussion is are his 11.33@132.77mph possible with his mods and "some" NOS nozzle size with the N54...forget about ethics, auto-tranny limitations...imagine this is my 6MT with say a stg 4 ceramic clutch that's more than able to take a high NOS dry shot punch...what would it take and do you think its doable with the stock motor?

This is fine and it is fair, we should get back on the topic. The main thing is using his results as justification for other N54's doesn't make much sense when other N54's are very different in their times, right? We should just leave it be.

I think to get realistic performance like that we should be focusing more on achieving it with boost instead of with nitrous. I believe Unfor is going about it the right way and will likely be able to product results in this range if he hits the 600 whp mark. So are the results possible at a real track? Yes, the N54 just isn't there yet but likely will be shortly.

I hear ya. But what about him saying one week he got rid of his coupe. Then a week later he still has it and it runs great. This guy has a tendency to lie too much, I have a hard time believing anything he says.

I know what you're saying...i just did a quick calc on dragtimes.com using their calculator and for him to do 11.33@132.77 in his 3900lb car (including driver) the car would need to have ~620hp at the fly, so around 540whp in this case which we did see with the ASR turbos but they were virtually at the limit of the fuel system and I remember Shiv saying that when they dyno tuned it 540whp was really just a dyno glory run and never something you'd be able to run at the track with their setup as it was too risky due to fueling (think meth wasn't used back then)...500-510whp was the most you could squeeze out reliably...it is starting to make me wonder about his 11.33@132.77 slip but I'm not going to say he lied/faked it as there's no solid proof...with a negative DA and maybe a 100hp dryshot, MAYBE, he did pull it off...

Old booster hit 530whp with a small dry shot of nitrous, I believe a .28 jet. He has stock turbos.

124.something MPH, but I believe he backed down a jet before running at the track because of misfires on the dyno probably due from leaning out. He only made it to 5000 or so RPM and made 530whp and I think it was like 560ft-lbs. I'll find it later.

He wasn't spraying through shifts either.

He hit 127 once. So where does a ~4 mph difference come from in a heavier car eh?

Larger jet + Sacramento, that's where.
