    JB3 2.0 dyno testing

    Hey guys,

Had a chance to do a little dyno testing with 2.0 beta, 2/8 firmware, with interesting results.

Test car is our auto 135i w/ Riss downpipes, Code3 IC, BMS DCI, stock midpipes/cats, stock catback, stock heavy rims/tires, etc. Temperature in the mid 50s.

The first two runs were done on map 7 with 91 octane, no methanol. Normal 24 ohm board. Results were right as predicted. On the third run it hit 380rw but the tach dropped out and lost the torque signal. Also did some runs on map 3 and 5 at 350-360rw. No big surprises.

For the next round of testing I swapped over to an 18 ohm and fired up the 80/20 meth mix. Results were initially disappointing on map 8 and 9 until I realized how low boost was getting with the cold meth charge. So I switched over to map 1 and started tuning. Final values were TQ=90, HP=100, AF=100, IAT=0. This pushed boost up to around 18psi where it should be and needless to say I was quite pleased with the resulting dynos. With lighter rims/tires and a ******* exhaust we'd be right back up at 460rw. Click here to enlarge

So moral of the story. If you're running map 8 or map 9 in cold weather, you may need to do a custom map to get boost levels up. Time for us to spend a little more time with the cold weather boost mapping as well. Click here to enlarge

Actual boost is around 18psi, dyno reads high, but it's pushing things for sure. Those aggressive custom maps are for those who are more interested in having their bumper being in front of the next guys than having turbo hardware last 150k miles. Click here to enlarge

I was just about to post this without realizing you had already posted it. Damn, I look at way too many damn posts through the day.

Anyway, the meth numbers are very nice.
