    JB4 water pump control

    Hey guys,

Back in town and spent a few moments to test our new CAN commands. We now have control of the water pump and radiator fan. Opens up a host of new features! Click here to enlarge

First on deck is maxcool mode for us drag racers. Just turn it on and it will cool the car down to some preset water temp. Say 140 degrees. Super easy. Click here to enlarge

Also setup management mode to turn off the radio for you. You alpha testers will really appreciate it. Click here to enlarge

Pretty cool. The only thing I would be concerned about is higher mileage cars...several have exhibited water pump failures just north of 50k....will this affect waterpump longevity by the extended running periods? I know the advantages prove to be pretty good, I can leave it on in my girls car during the summer after we turn it off to cycle coolant longer through the turbos than the factory time period.

Turbo life should go up as well.

They are normally rated to run tens of thousands of hours and water pump failures seem very few and far between. So I don't expect any problems there but something to keep an eye on.

Great idea this one, saves parking in front of a fan.

Are you able to target a lower H2O operating temp on an ongoing basis & tie that into tune targets?

Can you run the pump for longer after the car is shut down, again to improve cooling down.

Still doing lots of testing. But for the feature to work ignition has to be on, at the moment. I'm mapping out the factory water pump curve now to see where we can improve it during performance driving.

It's a great feature... pump runs when the motor is off to help cool down the turbos. Good stuff. Click here to enlarge

So sick Terry, can you do this every time we turn the car off so it's like a turbo timer?

Great work, can't wait to take advantage of this.

Is the draw from the fan (and ignition on power) minimal enough to not have battery drain concerns? Ideally like to just lock the door and walk off for a bit.

i dont think its a concern, unless you have like a 15# lightweight battery
