    Top Gear Premier

    Good so far.

    Seems a little bit scripted.

It was alright, nothing compared to the current season of the original Top Gear but look at how $#@!ty that show was in its first season. I say give it a season or two and Top Gear USA will be pretty good, too.

    I hope...

I watched the episode with the lambo they were trying to hit top speed, and the begining of the dodge viper vs. The helicopter... Wasn't bad

Their celebrity segment is terrible. Nothing like Clarkson's interviews.

Otherwise the remainder of the show was watchable.

I will DVR it and watch it in my free time.

Why the hell do you need a celebrity segment in a show about cars?

streetfire.com has both top gear and fifth gear episodes (yes, i like fifth gear alot more than i used to!)

Oh, and the show was not so bad, but these car shows need less scripting. Seriously, they ruin alot of the suspense when you know that it's just downright scripted. Funny sometimes, but it gets to be too much, and while the ideas are very cool, they would be funner if they were just the real conclusion of what happened. And would the Murci really be slower than a superleggera in the standing mile, because based on the way they portrayed it, it might have been faster...

I watched it, it wasn't bad. The celebrity crap was boring but other than that I liked it. It really tries hard to mimic the British program (obviously) but they just need to find their own groove. The stig stuff doesn't work as well with Americans saying it for whatever reason. They need to innovate a bit and try not to copy so much.

Other than that, I enjoyed it. The Murci should have been faster, it was the launch of the Superleggera that did it.

I guess i am a little more critical of it...i think Tanner Foust is a complete tool, so the show didnt really strike me as being a winner.

This reminds me of MTVs version of Silent Library.

on the contrary, i thought tanner was fine. it is the other two joe-shmo's who will ruin it. they know nothing about cars nor the mechanics of the engine, traction or what have you. tanner at least has a history in racing/drifting and has been around the block in the car scene. i dont even care if they're funny, they need to know a lot about cars in order be to be $#@!ing host of Topgear! god i mean anyone on here could probably do a better job. notice how they look to tanner in order to narrate stig's laps and also explain details about the cars, its stupid, im really pissed about the choice of hosts but i liked the stunts, they have a good creative pool but not much in writing or casting.

I never felt that Clarkson really knew his stuff though. Plus his pretentious British self always annoyed me yet that never stopped TopGear.

hey i guess that's true, isn't there a famous quote with him about turbos and witchcraft? lol but for America's Topgear to even compete we need to be better in some aspect. I dont see where that will be judging the pilot episode.

Ok, I'm watching another episode now where Tanner Foust is driving the Evo. What I don't like is he says the Evo makes more hp per liter than the Ferrari F430 while leaving out that the F430 is naturally aspirated. Well uh, ya, the Evo turbo charged. That kind of stuff makes me lose respect for the show.

I forget what show he was on but he was driving some supercar around Vegas and was saying 'you wish you could be me driving this car around'. Talk about an ego..I dont wish to be him for anything.

yea just because they get to drive all of these nasty cars they think they know everything about them, when really they can just drive them better then some people and have no clue how they actually work.. tanner says a lot of stupid things on the show supercars

I don't know if it is that they think they know everything. Tanner is a great driver, no doubt about that. A basic mistake like not differentiating between an NA motor and a turbo one makes me scratch my head.

do you guys think the show is scripted at all? it could explain why there are a few bad lines (writers obviously aren't car enthusiasts, or at least not on a level that they should be on).

I'm starting to get sick of this car vs. helicopter and car vs. skiers crap. What's next? Car vs. scuba divers?

Just for once give us a solid review with a dyno, 60-130, 1/4 mile, and lap times.
