yeah, sorry. Not sure how I got that confused. I was laying tile today in my foyer, and I was coming bacj and forth and not paying much attention. I still think detonating at 300whp is quite a bit low. Not sure why they couldnt adjust the tune to allow for more boost and power, but every setup is different I suppose.

    Thumbs up guess we're behind

I'm curious where your assessment comes from. What is your experience in tuning these motors? What kind of procedures are people using to dyno these?

That's no mean feat to run equivalent compression ratios over 19:1 and not get detonation! Remember, we have no methanol injection, icewater charge-cooling or other methods of managing air charge density - and we're running good old California 91 octane pump gas.

They don't have to give away your secrets, but if we're that far behind in our development I need to know. The fact that someone is managing to significantly more than DOUBLE the volumetric efficiency on an 11:1 motor running pump gas without detonation is incredible.

The best I could accomplish in a similar situation is we got Steve Jaffee's M52 2.8L turbo to a bit more with pump gas, but it had 300cc more displacement and was a dedicated race car with less parasitic losses. Based on his feedback, I was under the impression we were doing a fairly good job. Whoever is accomplishing this should really promote their stuff more - it would be a game-changer in this industry. Or better yet, send me a resume - that's someone who should be working on our team!

Are Neel and RT talking about different motors? 2.5L vs 2.8/3.0?

I've been clear I'm talking about an M52B25.
