So Clowney going first is not surprising. Johnny Manziel not even in the Top 10 is interesting.

Manziel not going at the top does not surprise me at all. His style is very difficult to translate into the NFL. You need a coach that is committed to building an offense around him. That is a big gamble.

I'm not saying Manziel is worthy of a top 10 pick I'm just surprised there was that much hype for someone who may not even go in the first round.

Easley was their guy all the way. Once he was gone, they were happy to trade out.

Not at all surprising. Cut out ESPN's noise and you'll see a prospect who terrifies scouts and coaches. Maybe he pans out, maybe he doesn't. But he could cost people their jobs. Ray did a bang up job tonight though, The Bills got played like a harp if you ask me.

Treading lightly here...but I was very, very happy to see Shazier go when he did. One of those players where you have to trust the tape and not get caught up in his weight. Everything I see says top 20 talent, period. Had him rated a good deal higher than Mosley, and know many others who felt similarly.

    Outstanding pick.

Curious to hear your guy’s thoughts…Who made out like a bandit? Who reached?

Had a passing thought this morning on the cab ride in, the Rams are set up to have the strongest D Line of the past, $#@! maybe decade? Quinn and Long on the end of the line, Donald and Brockers inside. That’s just silly, video game type stuff. I don’t know Les at all but that’s damn good work. I hate the small interior guys usually, but Donald and Easley have pretty rare first steps and can both get skinny.

I don't know about the Texans interior but looks like on the outside they will have the best combination of speed and strength with Watt and Clowney.

That’s fair for sure. Clowney’s obviously from another universe athletically. Him running twists and end stunts with Watt is not fair.

But for overall depth, versatility, scheme fit…What the Rams have done is truly incredible. They have in my mind an elite quick twitch edge guy in Quinn, an outstanding overall player in Long, natural strength and anchor inside with Brockers, and now rare quickness inside with Donald. It’s not a particularly heavy unit outside of Brockers, but I think it’s going to be special.

A few nuggets I heard in passing, no idea if there’s truth to them

    1. Browns scouts wanted nothing to do with Manziel in the top 10. Haslam had to be talked off the ledge on that one.
    2. Seahawks were hot to trot for Easley. Once NE snapped him up, they called it a day and backed out.
    3. Chip Kelly LOVES length in his end of line players. Their pick makes perfect sense in that lens.
    4. This one I do know to be true. Heated debate RE: Benjamin or Marqise Lee at WR for Carolina. Staff seemed to want Benjamin; I know the area scouts wanted Lee. I know who I’d rather..

Browns ticket sales soaring on news of Manziel. I almost feel bad for the Cleveland fans and their false expectations. I definitely feel bad for Manziel.

    Who's your team Sticky?

LOL - I honestly did not even realize that Manziel will open his career at Heinz field. Wow.

Yes, I am ASSuming that the morons in Cleveland will throw this kid to the wolves.

I don't have a team. When LA gets a team or two again I might. I'm just a fan of football.

I find people who root religiously for a team a bit off. I mean, it's not your team. The players aren't from your city. It just doesn't make too much sense.

In baseball at least I like that the market you are in reflects your team somewhat. LA gets stars and has money and it shows. New York spends a ton. Teams like the Royals have to use home grown talent or go through their farm system.

The NFL tries very hard to balance things and I don't believe that reflects different cities well in reality.

It depends on the project really. LA's new football stadium will be 100% private funding:
