    2015 BMW F80 M3 / F82 M4 S55 inline-6 ecu flash dyno results from Jailbreak Tuning

    Well that was pretty fast. As reported last week the M3 / M4 S55 engine control unit has been cracked. Keep in mind this is very early in the flash tuning process of the new M3 and M4 but there are multiple tuners with the ability to flash the ECU out there with many more to come. Jailbreak Tuning posted the first Dynojet results of their flash tune and the result on 91 octane pump fuel is an increase of 20 peak horsepower at the wheels.

    Obviously peak horsepower does not tell the whole story especially on the newer BMW turbo motors as the gains in the mid-range are in the 50 wheel horsepower range. The torque curve is much fatter and the peak torque figure increases by 42 lb-ft at the wheels.

    People will obviously being comparing these flash figures to the BMS piggyback tune figures. As of today, piggyback tuning shows greater horsepower and torque gains. It will be interesting to see how these two approaches play out and the way they play out will likely be reminiscent of the N54 tuning scene in which each approach has its place with many people using both for the optimum setup.

    Regardless, the flash tuning era of the S55 inline-6 motor is officially underway.

    So who is GSR/JB tuning? Never heard of this company from BMW performance and off of a sudden they're like gods. Somethings quite fishy....

    I would hardly use the term gods. They're a flash tuner like many others out there. However these cars are being flashed it is going to spread like wildfire.

    I wonder why the S63 is still stuck in boost controller world, while the 55 already has given up at least partial read/write control. Interesting....Great news for sure though.

    I don't know how the S55 ECU applies to the N55. Are they even the same thing?

    AFAIK and what Terry was saying yea. They're pretty much the same, that's how he did the beta tune for it, just plug n play.

    I'm not calling these guys or anyone out. It just seems too good to be true... @Terry@BMS What do you think about the S55 ECU?

    Even if the ECU's are physically similar it does not mean the encryption is the same.

    I mean this was cracked super fast yet the F30 isn't.

    I seems like the F-series encryption key was leaked. Because it was said tunes for the F10 M5, 228i, 650i/640i were all coming.

    Chances are these guys have some very high end software "specialist" that were able to beat the encryption, and then worked with a Jailbreak "tuner" to modify some of the OEM tables. This is how it starts, so more people work on it, it'll slowly get more and more refined, in addition to more control over the OEM tables.

    you guys read that from me lol and yes it is true. remember the whole $#@!storm with Powerchip? Matt went through some issues with Wayne and his bull$#@! lawsuit headaches and then stayed real low key for a while and focused on tuning. then he comes out of nowhere on M5Board, joins as a "guest" vendor (he got banned because the staff demanded he become a sponsor since he was selling tunes for BMWs to the members but "he refused"), and heads straight to the E39 M5 guys.

    he then went and fixed a bunch of people's $#@!ed up PC tunes for free cause he's a stand up guy. then he showed some sexy ass gains for an E46 M3 he tuned and right there started JB tuning. he's tuning a lot of platforms apparently, one guy with an M6 got tuned by Matt and had nothing but good things to say.

    so yeah thats Jailbreak tuning

    i caught on right away when he joined this forum right after the rumors of the S55 ecu was cracked. i nailed it.

    damn, i had no idea it was actually a global issue with him. that just makes it all the better how he gets treated. Don't think anything can top the gearboxing though.

    I think it's bench flash as it's a Bosch MEVD172.G (Infineon Tricore). Kinda the same as in the N55. This has a G in the end which I have NO idea of what it should be.
