    Gintani DCT pan review

As said in my other thread here http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...rke-experience

I drove straight from Houston TX all the way to Miami. This was 18 hours of driving with minimal stop times. By the time I was half way through the drive the DCT transmission was acting up a lot. Almost to the point it didn't want to shift up from a stop. I never got any warning lights but it was obvious the transmission was overheated.

I had experienced this before on long trips and got warning lights and failures when at the track. This pretty much made me regret the decision not to get the 6 speed like I first intended.

Well while the car was at Active Auto I had them install the pan so I could get a good feel for how it worked on my drive back . I was nothing short of impressed with the results. I never once got the feeling my trans was over heating or any trouble changing gears my whole trip back home. Once home and at the drag track I hot lapped it a few times as I have done in the past. The transmission remained flawless in operation . Where as in the past it would start overheating and jerking all around.

Now this Is not some ground breaking technology . If you have raced any other makes in the past you know that most cars will have larger aftermarket pans available. Gintani just seems to be the first to offer a good solid product for the DCT m car community. It is also worth noting that the stock pan was leaking and giving off a constant burning oil smell. I no longer have the leaks or the smells.

In conclusion I believe this is a must for anybody running a DCT transmission that has intention of track racing or even long high MPH trips in mind. I wish this product would of been available since I bought the car.

Nice review man. Gintani definitely knows what they're doing.

I can't wait to try it out myself! The trans overheating drove me nuts on the strip.

So BMW's DCT can't handle normal sustained driving? I'm amazed they would release it knowing this. I mean hey must have tested the car on a long drive before releasing it no? Glad to hear there is a fix but slightly disconcerting that BMW released it this way from the factory.

Well it also makes you wonder how bearing issues happen but BMW definitely is not flawless.
