Exhaust Mods to Keep Up with N54

The year of 2014 is the year for the N54. So many upgrades, and resolutions for the problems that the N54 has faced. Something that I haven't really seen much focus on was the exhaust side of the N54. Any ideas or inputs on what is the preferred exhaust modification to compliment turbo upgrades?

There are a ton of exhaust systems out there, high-flow catalytic converters and larger diameter down-pipes that you can use. I'm thinking it's pretty well addressed.

I know there are, but this is prior to the high HP setups out there. Would they really be "high performance"?

Are you running dual or single outlet? You are running 4" from DP to tip? What muffler are you using?

Yes! I familiar enough with turbo-charged systems to know that, depending on your power goals, that even a slight upgrade in exhaust (like the BMW PE) can yield large gains. After market exhaust, down-pipes and high-flow catalytic converters are major upgrades. The only thing that I see is that most upgrade their systems beyond the point of where it's beneficial. Sure, you can run straight pipes off the turbo or boost-controlled dump valves if you want. I'm just saying there are a LOT of exhaust systems already out on the market that will suit the typical needs. If you're building a monster, you may want a custom exhaust system.

Okay gotcha. Hard to say no to a good deal. As long as you're enjoying her.

just read your project thread, page 1 says 4" turbo back, thread too long to go through it all. assuming you fit a 4" haha

yep, makes sense (your thread says 3-5/8" for the outlet, so yep lol) - I wonder for RHD if 4" would fit around.. obviously twin 3" fits fine, so a 4" split to 3" would fit... No reliable reports of anyone actually trying though lol... The manifold wouldn't take up more room around the steering rack than stock turbos and manifolds do...
