some buying advice - series 3 vin's etc

    ok,
time is getting close to getting out and looking for a 'm.

    so, I'm leaning more towards a series 3 e46 conv. either 325//328

    so a couple of questions

1> is there a differance between the fuel consumption (real world hiway) between a 328 and 330, (there appears to be more 330's out there.

2> VIN's ; are the VIN's in the same place and regarding confirming identity are there any things specifically BMW that will help me

3> Are there any specific labels that should be there to make sure it hasnt been sprayed, EG the Porsche 944's had a factory paint label and also a VIN stamp that should not have been painted.

    4> Any good buyers guides

    thankssssssssssssssss

Thats pretty accurate for avg fuel consumption. Of course with a manual you can drive conservatively and probably get better but part of the fun of a 328/330 is winding out that inline 6. Remember, these cars take premium fuel, so while fuel consumption should be a deciding factor, it is what it is, they aren't going to be the most economical sedan you can purchase.

The newest f30's with the n20 / n55 turbo motors get much better fuel economy but now your getting into a different price range.

yeah I understand, that, damn I forgot premium fuel, damn thats gonna cost
but will it screw up stuff if I use the cheaper fuel?

any ideas on the VIN plates, i.e. where they are and how to spot a fake one or cloned one

    cheers

Did you end up getting an e46?

I have a 330i and I get ~30 MPG on the highway. I run 93 but sometimes if I'm only going on a long highway trip I may use 89.
