    Stock F30 335i vs. Stage I Rebellion Automotive tuned A45 AMG from a stop and roll

    The M133 AMG 2.0 liter four-cylinder under the hood of the 45 AMG models is proving itself to be plenty potent. Especially considering it is mated to an wheel drive drivetrain with a dual clutch transmission. This particular A45 AMG features a Rebellion Automotive Stage I tune which increases power to somewhere around the ~400 crank horsepower range. So, going up against a stock F30 335i is quite a mismatch despite the 335 having a 3.0 liter turbocharged N55 inline-6.

    On paper the deficit between the two cars is roughly 100 horsepower. In practice, it looks even greater as the A45 AMG demolishes the 335i from a low speed roll. From a stop the 335i is given the hit and a lead but the A45 AMG very quickly reels it in and passes. It is not close at all.

    It is useful to see just how much faster a tuned M133 is than a stock N55 but Rebellion may not want to tout this race too much as there are plenty of 335's on BimmerBoost that would make this A45 AMG look like it is standing still. That said, this AMG four-cylinder all wheel drive dual clutch drivetrain continues to impress.

    That 335 got destroyed but not much of a fair fight o well good to know anyway. Here's a cool video it's a m135 which is lighter and around the a45 weight both have McChip software (not the best for either car) but still a good comparison. They do stock vs stock, tuned vs stock both ways, and finally both tuned.
    m133 is an impressive little motor needs E85 now ...

    That little AMG moves. I am curious to see how this thing ends up after a few years of tuning/driving hard. It's a lot of power to squeeze out of that engine, but it sounds like it's engineered well. I like that car - would like to give one a try next time I have a chance.

    I would expect a higher hp car in stock form to demolish a lower hp car in stock form. So I can imagine it will do the same tuned... am I the only one not surprised?

    The n55 is literally one of the $#@!tiest engines lol. Power and torque dies off at like 5k rpm.

    Yes, to a certain extent all stock turbo cars do. Would be better to have an n54 go against the a45.

    I need to get a go pro .. Had a run with an n54 335 6at running only jb4 and bms intake with some heavy non forged show wheels. Destroyed it from a dig due to AWD. On a roll walked away pretty good from 40-140 id say 3-4 car lengths. Only running rebellion stage 1 version 2 piggy back which totally transformed this car was surprised knowing n54 are strong but check the dynos the m133 makes power all the way to redline and has put down 370 whp to all 4 wheels ! My rebellion TCU tune just shipped out today so it will make it even faster rebellion stated cars have seen 40 crank torque gains in the midrange with faster shifts. O btw made a few acceleration vids with the stingray and took a few pics will post it and my impressions once I get some time.

    even modded N54 vs modded A45

    A45 has the consistency of DCT, so takes a pretty good driver with a pretty good N54

    that said, an extra liter with bigger turbos, it's not hard to get the N54 quicker.

    I installed my rebellion TCU tune yesterday. It's still kind of adapting but definitely notice quicker shifts and the tranny seems more responsive from a dig. Need some more time behind the wheel to give a full impression.

    It was around $1150. Install is simple.

    1. Turn ignition to on position
    2. Plug TCU tool in ODB port
    3. Once upgrade is complete the tool will start beeping repeatedly
    4. Unplug TCU tool and switch ignition off
    5. Start engine and let idle for 5 mins

    That actually is really simple. If you get a chance and wouldn't mind a picture of the TCU tool over in the M133 engine section would be great.

    I'm just curious to see this stuff myself but sounds like it's working and easy to install.
