Vargas Stage 2 tuning adventure time

So I finally have my Vargas Stage 2 Turbo installed, along with a Walbro in tank E85 pump and new NGK spark plugs. Also put in M3 rear control arms and Megan Racing toe arms while it was there.
More info on the car is in this thread.

Time to start tuning (or time for PTF to start tuning), I'll post my progress here.

Before I start how do these look? They were only on the car for a few thousand kilometres, while the car was running an e85 mix and competed in a runway event, which is detailed here.

either running a tad too rich or the plug is too cold for what u were doing..

i would put new ones in at .022 and check them in a thousand km or so.

Those were the OEM bosch ones, I was told not to gap them so they were as they came out of the box. New plugs are NGKs at .022.
    Examples of AFRs are here

And I just went and put a couple of hours on it, it appears everything is good with no leaks. Can definitely hear the turbo spooling a lot more now which is nice Click here to enlarge
Did a few logs just using the mildest Cobb OTS map to make sure boost control is working as it should.

Plan is to do a map for normal fuel (98ron or US 93) first, then sort out a e85 map. Hoping I can run 100% E85 as I hate having to mix.

I just picked it up Thursday night.
I'll do a dyno when tuning is done, I have baseline dyno from when I was completely stock and when I went FBO running a JB4.

No codes so far, have put a couple of hundred kms on the car and it all seems.
The setup is similar to SteveAZ's stage 2 I think. Local mechanic got some custom fittings CNC machined and mine is the second car he's installed it in.

That's the plan, I saw people complaining that there are no independent results so thought I'd share everything.
I can say just running the Cobb Stage 2+ Agressive OTS map with normal 93 petrol the car feels fast.

I'm interested in how the dct does. A dct 135 with Vargas turbo has been in the back of my head for months.

mines been doing fine just took too long to get the dme updated to be able to load the back end flash then tuning took awhile now its hot here...ill try to dyno soon if we get some cool days it feels much stronger than stock and pulls to redline tons of torque

I also wanted to mention that I am experiencing an issue where if I have DTC engaged and experience wheel slip then it misfires.
There is no misfiring with Traction Control fully off but I usually drive with DTC on so I have a safety net.
@Josh@Cobb Dzenno said they were discussing it with you as they had no control over fueling when the DME intervenes with traction control. Any chance this may be fixed?

Also maybe you might have some comment on these logs?

So few things. As far as the actual Vargas hardware goes it is all good. My mechanic was also very impressed with the kit. He did add a couple of extra bits (heat shielding, brackets) but overall it is a very nice piece of hardware.
Have put 1000+kms on it so far with no issues. I went to a track day last weekend, tuning was still underway so I just used a Cobb OTS map which was nice and safe. I drove 250kms to the track, did 100+km on track and drove home no problem.

Tuning is coming along. PTF are working on the map for plain 98ron petrol first.

    Have some logs here

Haven't got any objective measurements yet but even on a fairly mild tune it feels faster than the stock turbo maxed out with an ethanol mix.
I know Virtual Dynos aren't worth too much but the logs were taken on the same road at least.
The red line is a e40 mix with a flat 12 degrees of timing on the stock turbo with a JB4 vs. plain 98ron with the Vargas stage 2 running 2-6 degrees of timing using a PTF Cobb map.

Note that this is only the second revision and not final.
It should get interesting when we start on the e85 map.

When I get around to dynos should I go to the same dyno dynamics I did my baseline runs at or find a dynojet?
Also the drag strip is now closed for winter so won't get any traps or times until September at least.

Nice Logs but you can't compare JB4 Logs vs COBB Logs on VirtualDyno. From my experience the JB4 Logs show HP while the COBB Logs are whp. When you are only looking @ COBB Logs use a custom Dyno-Value of 1.261. that's what I've calculated using different cars. Should be fairly correct then. The Vargas turbo makes MUCH more power from what I can tell knowing the above and taking a look @ your logs

Thanks for that info, that would explain why it feels faster Click here to enlarge
Kind of goes against those saying there is no point to this upgrade using normal pump fuel.
I'll get some real dyno numbers when tuning is complete.

Just this morning received a third (and hopefully final) revision of the pump gas map. Will test out when it stops raining and then see if I can do a dyno on my next free RDO which is 11th July.

I was planning to go the same dyno dynamics I did my stock and FBO runs at.
I suppose I can look for a dynojet.
