    Sooo....Is my 6AT slipping? Log inside

    I've noticed recently that my E88 is getting more and more upset about shifting out of 3rd. Pulled the log below last night and as you can see, the shift event doesn't look particularly clean. I can actually tell the shift is slower in car, it shifts out of 3rd OK but then hesitates engaging 4th for a split second, which the log reflects.

    For full context mods are below in sig. I did a 6AT service not long ago and take very good care of the car. I'm surprised that it's slipping assuming that's what the log shows, on a stock turbo car I wouldn't think it would have an issue but who knows. 3rd sees 90% of the abuse in my car so I guess that could explain it. If it's on the way out, guess it's time to explore a 6MT swap or a used donor 6AT.

    Here's a 4th gear pull. As you can see, the shift is clean. So this is exclusive to the 3-4 shift.

    The autos main issues have always been recovering from the shift and that looks like a slip. On E50 and Jake's tune the stock turbos are torque monsters and you shifting right into a healthy part of the torque curve(5K is on the upper edge, though) it's not a huge surprise. That doesn't mean it doesn't suck though Click here to enlarge

    Ugh. Yea sounds about right to me.

    The fact that I only see that in 3rd though, do you think the plates in that gear are just burnt up?

    Or put another way- should I start looking for a donor trans? Or work on attempting to build this one up ie dedicated cooler and LVL10 Valve body. If 3rd in this one is just toast i'd probably replace it before doing anything else.

    IDK but it's lame.

    I already have upgraded mounts. I mean i'd happily switch to billet, but I can't see those making that drastic a difference.

    +100wtq would be good for science.

    I think I just beat up on 3rd too often. I don't know exactly how much WTQ the car makes but i'd wager it's well north of 450.

    Maybe 6MT swap time IDK.

    Hey @07Tundra how's that dedicated trans cooler treating you?

    If I stay 6AT i'll need one regardless of wether the box currently in the car gets replaced or not.

    i only feel a slight vibration when i first tap the gas. its smooth the rest of the time. On the hwy around 80plus mph i very slightly feel them. The shifting is much sharper/ I have the motor and trans mounts.

    this is on an auto. dont know about with a manual

    Sweet. Mind if I PM you about it later today? I need to get on this, thinking through the logistics of a 6MT swap gives me cancer so i'm probably sticking it out wth 6AT on this car.

    I'm thinking a dedicated trans cooler + LVL10 VB. See where that gets me?
