The upcoming 2015/2016 BMW X7 picture renderings

The whole world knows the BMW X7 is on the way and will be assembled in the United States. Engine choices will likely mirror the X5 and X6 but the X7 will be bigger and heavier. If one were to guess just how much this behemoth will weigh the ~5700 pound range of the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class which will be its main rival is likely a good ballpark. We have an idea of what it will weigh and what motors it will have, but what will it look like?

The renderings below give a pretty good idea. Expect big kidney grilles and X5 inspired front and rear lights. Basically, a bigger X5.

that front end is HIDEOUS and that side profile screams Mercedes GL

I doubt it will use an I-6. MB has a base V8 and the Q7 is slow as $#@! with all of its V6's

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if BMW threw a three-cylinder in it.

i drove the GL550, it's the luxury suburban. it's not so bad, but it's just a giant c class interior wise.

Unless you have a minimum of 3+ children you should not be allowed to by a vehicle this size.

I don't like it as I have no need, but to me it does have its place in the lineup as an executive level SUV.

Bleh on the design; but what I would expect more or less.

You don't need many kids to run out of space. X5 3rd row seats only work up to maybe 10 year olds...they are tiny. So me, plus wife, plus couple, plus 2 kids and X5 is maxed. If the kids are young, you also need big ass car seats. There is also not much room shotgun with a kid behind you in a seat because you have to move the seat up or the kid has no room. Now if you want to do that plus go on a real trip, you need roof storage. Still may not be enough room. The 3rd row seats kill about 75% of the storage space.

To those who are ripping on the design like it's already in production...this is a render. Not the real thing....

Exactly. But... it's not going to be some crazy different design.

Very true. Although this does look suspiciously like someone took a pic of an X5 and just stretched it awkwardly Click here to enlarge
