HELP!!! My car is grinding when I shift gears... Why?

OK so this started aboit a week ago. When its cold and I start up the car in go into reverse it just grinds and doesnt want to go into gear for me. It has only happened a few times on the other gears but mostly in reverse.

Is this my clutch or my tranny? What am I looking at for repairs and how much $$$?

Does your clutch pedal feel mushy? Unless you destroyed your syncros, it's not your tranny.

My guess is you have some air in the lines and/or maybe a small leak and the clutch may not be disengaging as far, causing a grind as you try and force your syncros to fight your engine.

If it is an '04 you are obviously past the warranty period. Did you buy it used though? If so, when, as if it was from a BMW dealer you likely have some sort of warranty.
