Talking Hey! New Member to the scene.

Hey there! My name is Geby, I'm from Kelowna BC

New to the BMW scene, picked up my CPO Jet Black - 2007 335i last week and its a heck of a car!
It's my new DD, to replace my tried and true 2003 Honda Accord. Wanted something with a lot more oomph and class.

    My weekend/track/fun car is my 1993 Mazda RX7; GT40R...Extended Street Port...etc

I'm a car enthusiast. I've been studying up on the 335i day in and day out trying to find little facts about it. Heard about your site, thought I'd sign up and soak up some more info. Only gripe about the car is how all the other 3 series (328, 330 etc) look the same!

Currently have done a blacked out grill, JB+ and LUX 4.0 AE's. Will do someother things, but winter is fast approaching Click here to enlarge

Welcome! Yes, 3 series all look the same and are all over the place but fortunately the aftermarket support is good so you can make it stand out.

Hey buds, the GT gathers full boost around 4K rpm, max rpm right now is limited to 6500RPM; its still a fresh rebuild from the summer, just finished breaking her in and will go for a full tune in the spring/summer of 2011. Max RPM will be around 8K depends on what my tuner determines is kinda reliable/safe. Seals have been replaced with 2mm Aviation seals. Dyno sheets will be posted for sure when the tuning is complete, still gotta add meth for some decreased temps.

Now for the 3. I'm sure the JB plus will hold me over for now, until I get a understanding of what you guys do to mod these beasts. For what its worth the torque is something I'm not used to having at such a low RPM range Click here to enlarge

From what I have read so far is that there are 3-4 company's that are well known that offer a plug and play piggy back solution to up the boost and get some more power. For the prices I've seen this is the best "bang for the buck" a grand or so for 60ish HP. Compared to a quality brand name (Vangaurd...etc) which will gain you 10ish HP for $1200+. What would the general consensus be for a plug and play piggy back for a purely stock drivetrain?

Sorry for the wall of text, just want to jump right into this.

Cannot beat bms jb3 with dci if your looking for bang for the buck... They will be coming out with there more advanced board which offers autotuning and other really cool features... Procede v4 is more expensive but already has autotuning... Check out there is a forum started on the two tunes here in the n54 section... On my iPhone so I'm too lazy to get it for you :|

The Standback 2 is the most advanced piggyback, it is similar to setting up a basic stand-alone ecu. You will not find full potential of your vehicle without doing some custom on road/dyno tuning. I believe they do have base maps to work off of though.

The Procede v4 has CAN (computer area network) access, isolated boost control (can hold steady boost like a good electronic boost controller), and can retard ignition timing up to 8degrees (CPS offseting). Keep in mind that the stock ecu is always adjusting timing itself anyway. It has "Autotuning" (search E90post) and predetermined maps.

The Juice Box 3 v2.0 is the best HP gain per dollar. It comes with multiple pre-determined maps and one "tweakable" map. It currently does not have CAN access, but the upcoming G4 and PRO board do. (look around on N54tech) It amplifies the factory boost curve to different amounts depending on the map selected (DCI only cars on 93octane usually go for MAP3 or MAP5 depending on ambient conditions), and allows you to tweak a custom map (MAP1) in order to attain your desired "boost curve". The soon to be released G4 board improves on this integrated boost control approach (from what I have seen it looks very good, almost no target overshoot), and the upcoming PRO board will offer isolated boost control, CPS offsetting, and possibly even isolated throttle control (throttle blade% open is forced to equal gas pedal% pressed even on boost target overshoot). More details and a map selection guide can be found on www.N54tech.com.

The N54 toque curve is like the opposite of your GT40r 13b! Click here to enlarge

as im sure you know, basic mods on the N54 yield huge gains...

It is the main reason i got it, a good platform for modding.

^ Thanks Frank and DBFIU. Yeah I've up'd my JB+ to 100% and did the solenoid bypass and I'm totally floored at the improvements.
