    Considering a new M3

I went from a FBO 09 335xi to a 2012 Audi S4 i have just about every aftermarket upgrade available. I really enjoy my car but this new M3 looks awesome. I can't imagine what a beast it will be with a tune only. My only issue is it would be my DD and i live in NY. The AWD was nice with all the snow this last year. Can anyone give me any honest input on how the M3's handle in the snow? I know now one knows how the new one is but i imagine it won't be that different than past M3's. Thank you in advance

Living in Cali I can not relate to this topic. I'd say if you're worried, stick with your S4.

Just get a bigger APR blower on the car if you are craving more power.

Snow tires are much more important than driven wheels in the snow. I know plenty of guys that drive their high hp rwd cars in the snow by using the right tires.

Stage 3 isn't out yet for the B8 S4's. Also I feel safe adding around 100 hp to any given vehicle but beyond that i feel you really up the odds of something breaking.

It's on the way. Heh, guys with 335's are adding several hundred more than that.

You really don't have much to worry about when going to a bigger supercharger on your car other than the transmission.

I mean, you at least can enjoy the S4 in the snow though. The M3 you can't. It just depends on your intended goals and usage.

The transmission i think is 12g to replace the dsg so i would sit on the sidelines untill it's been tested by some others. I go back and forth. I always wanted an M3 and now that it's coming with the I6 twin turbo i want it even more. That's why I was looking for outside opinions my decision making ability is clouded by my passion for the car. I haven't even mentioned this to my wife yet. It may be a non issue lol

I drove my old 540i in the SNOW many a time this winter..... I go NYC to Hamptons several times a week and Hamptons Jersey a lot.... including this years storms... nope it is not ideal, is it terrible.... NO........ well maybe in 3 feet of snow when that d-head Mayor De Blasio doesnt sweep East 74th and 5th sure, but there were plenty of bogged A4's, A7's, AWD Merc in distress too this last winter...

Get good winter tires and you will be okay... not as good as AWD but ok

Also, I drove my 540i in those horrible Christmas storms a few years back from Jersey to NYC..... there was plenty of snow everywhere.... not a biggie

Like others have said..a good set of snow tires will help but obviously the awd of the s4 is superior.

Remember, we had a crazy year for snow, it definitely wasn't normal. If you look at the snow avg.'s we usually only have maybe 3 bad days a winter? Most of the time when it snows hard, no one goes on the road anyway, no matter what car you have, so I think the AWD/4 wheel drive arguement is a little overdone. Think about it, your going to base what you drive during the year on a handful of snow days? Call out of work, or arrange so you don't get caught in a storm...

I do. I paid more for the S6 and It was a really tough decision. I know the new m3 is going to be a beast of a car and fun to drive. The S6 rides soooo nice and at 40 I think that is more important to me.
