Close enough it's a wash I think...so then buyer would go to next criteria I think - price, finish, styling, etc. I doubt anyone will make the decision based on 3 miles do you?

More of a question why isn't the i3 range better. What happened to all the light weight construction, carbon composite body/chassis.

All the innovation and less range than a Leaf.

What makes it worth $20k more? The badge? So you can tell your friends your golf cart has rwd.

    $21k vs $41K

    They are both hideous.

Pretty much. More acceptance at the country club. All the guys will still laugh at you, the liberal wives might like you though.

That's like saying I'd wipe with paper towels before I'd wipe with a newspaper.

I just can't be bothered. Period.

Wake me up for this when petrol engines are banished altogether.
Until that time I could not care less.

BMW making the i3 invites the comparison.

Hence my point. Thankfully I don't have to choose between those two.

They have a range extender model coming ....

I know electric cars are supposedly the future, but if BMW can invest this much in a niche car, why can't they build us a lightweight m3 or a z4 with a s65 in it? I'm annoyed

No way... They invested $2 billion making the i3, only to sell 20,000 cars a year. It wouldn't cost anywhere close to make a lightweight m3 or drop a s65 in the z4.

Bah. People said the same thing about the m3. Blah blah cf roof and blah blah can beat it. I would guess the i3 drives a lot better than the Nissan, but have not driven either. They are both quirky cars which appeal to specific people.

What they learned in terms of batteries and CFRP mass production will trickle down/out to all future models though. That's the difference.
