A simple and affordable way to improve the exhaust sound of the F10 M5 - Fabspeed F10 bypass pipes

F10 M5 exhaust note woes are well documented. For one, there is the synthetic engine noise BMW plays through the speakers to try to make the note artificially more exciting. The stock engine note leaves so much to be desired that BMW goes to the length of faking it. Just take a look at an exhaust comparison between the E60 M5 S85 naturally aspirated V10 and the new F10 M5 twin turbo S63TU V8 and you will hear just how world's apart previous and current gen M car exhaust sounds are.

The S63TU is muffled by the turbos so opening up the exhaust makes a night and day difference in the sound quality and aggression. A simple way to achieve this goal is with muffler bypass pipes. They are cheaper than a full exhaust exhaust system and they simply bolt right on. At $1395 these are not 'cheap' bypass pipes but when compared in the context of F10 M5 exhaust systems the pipes become a value.

As all you are doing is really ditching the mufflers there is not much of a performance gain to be had but the bypass pipes are 14 pounds lighter than the OEM mufflers.

Check out the video below to get an idea of the sound quality. Combining these bypass pipes with a good set of downpipes will make a nice difference in the performance and sound quality of the F10 M5. Definitely something F10 M5 owners should look into to get more enjoyment from their cars.

Turner Motorsports has had this exact setup available for a long time.

    And it is cheaper.

I was fully expecting to see some laughable price like $3.5K for a muffler delete. That’s actually somewhat reasonable for the marketplace. Sometimes I really think M5 owners (F10 in particular) enjoy over paying for things just for fun.

Is it what pipes should cost? No. Is it affordable in the F10 M5 market? Yes.

If it was me and I wanted to do some upgrades to improve the experience while not breaking the bank I'd get this, some downpipes, and a piggyback tune and have a whole new car that performs and sounds WAY better for only a few grand.

Why can't you just wack off the mufflers at a local shop for like 50$? It's the same thing.

Sure you could do that but it would be uglier, wouldn't include bolt in pipes, the tips, makes it harder to go back to stock, etc.

Decent price considering. Still have to say that catless DPs + RPI full straight pipes is the way to go for sound. Few things sound that good. Actually sounds a bit like an F430.
