Yes but the motor that comes w/ the PDK is not a racing motor, like the Metzger that came w/ the 996's and first gen 997's. It is the PDK, not the engine on the 997.2's that make them so amazing. The Metzger has been modified to 800 on several cars and not one has blown to my knowledge.

In any event, the new PDK is unbelievably fast out of the box. My friend got one and he could almost hang w/ my GT2 which made close to 600 on pump (it is now making well over 600 on pump). I had to run some race gas to put him in his placeClick here to enlarge

What do you mean? The motor has been blown.

You make a good point that these new motors are no longer the GT1 block but we also don't know where their limit is. They may impress, but they do not have the storied history of the GT1 variants.

My car and about 6-7 others that I know of personally are making close to 800 wheel hp...none have blown. Chris Powell made 868 and has not blown (although we all think it is just a matter of time....he ran a 10.1 1/4 and trapped 148).

Yes, we had this discussion if you remember, Taza and I pointing out the M3 side in Porsche territory.

I believe we established 800 whp is not boost you run everyday and that there were motors blown like Divexxextreme's for example. I believe in that thread I also posted links to others namely 996tt's that had rods give out. I also posted a reference of you yourself stating the motor should be built above 6xx whp.

I know there are a couple motors that have held together for a short period at the power levels you are describing but you are quite correct in saying it is a matter of time. The hardware won't last long but that is a great tune keeping it together for the short bursts it is used, others have not been so lucky.
