    TT S85 V10 - Am i crazy???

After watching these TT lambo's at TX2K14 I have suddenly got the urge for a S85 motor! Most of you know I had a custom kit built for my N54 (Twin scroll top mount) I haven't even started the car yet and I am ready to move onto another project lol. (Car is 98% done)

Has anyone attempted to TT a S85 yet?

A TT S85 is coming. You are not crazy. There is no reason the S85 can't do the same sort of things the Lambo V10 does.

I am not to family with there SMG but does it hold power pretty well so far? I am really thinking about giving this a go. There are some low priced m5-m6's on autotrader.

You can upgrade the clutch in it like the SMG-II. It isn't as hard as a DCT or anything.

I've seen the manifolds and turbos on the S85 V10 already. It's quite nice.

A tt s85 is long overdue. A sleeved, twin turbo s85 with an upgraded smgiii will surely dominate any rwd supercar. Its sad how little attention it gets. M3's pushing more hp than an m5 with a bigger motor is a bit sad.

Theres not much room under the hood, so that must be the reason why the m5 hasnt seen much love

    It's a space issue.

I've been saying for this forever to people who have called the S85 and S65 weak just how strong of an aftermarket platform these motors are. People are just stupid and think because you can you can do a pulley or tune easily that makes an AMG or factory turbo BMW stronger.

Dont pay more than 30k for it. M5's are cheaper btw, you can get one for 20k all day.

for 30k he's likely to find a high mileage potentially abused car. if he gets one for 30k, i highly recommend the car gets some preventative maintenance done as follows (anyway he's boosting the car so he might as well):

    Rod bearings/bolt replacement
    Vanos line replacement
    Test vanos pump
    Get the injectors cleaned out

and definitely make the trans a priority. SMG is $#@!ing annoying.

just needs the right shop to do it...everyone said that a front mount kit is impossible on a V2 CTS-V because there is no space....and here we are today...

The M5/M6 are certainly not impossible but it takes a hell of a shop to do it.

ASR essentially hustled two guys years ago trying to do this. I said ASR couldn't tune a radio let alone a twin turbo setup and my posts were deleted off M5board. Be careful who you have try to build something that's never been done: http://www.bimmerboost.com/content.p...SR-Engineering

Hope you have more luck with the M6 than we did with ours... but a TT M5/M6 would be so effing awesome beacuse the S85 engine is my all time fave !

    Could @undercover do this

Crazy that "ARGUABLY" the best V10 engine made is getting zero love in the "after-sales 2nd hand car market"

I mean I can buy an M5 for less than the cost of the original engine

Doing the hardware is something I think a handful of shops could do.

It's not the hardware that is the biggest challenge here. Only one company can tune this as of right now that I have seen actually demonstrated.

Except that the 4 wheel drive helps for traction off the line.
